Back from Australia!Friday, October 11Technically, I got back on Tuesday but I haven't had the energy nor the inspiration to do anything to the webpage. I did post my digital cam pics at a rival website (it was SO easy!) but will only post the best of the lot here (due to hard drive space limitations). |
What has been going on since my return? Nothing remarkable, really. I did get my clothes unpacked, most of the gifts from abroad to the intended recipients and time adjusted, but other than that, I haven't done anything really substantial. I am looking to fill up my time with hours in retail pharmacy. I took a leave of absence from the hospital and will last until Nov 1. In the interim, I will seek what other opportunities exist for me as a pharmacist out in retail. I do log in quite a number of hours in retail outside of full-time hospital work (about 10 hrs / week) so perhaps it would be in my best interest to bump it up to say, 20 hrs per week, at the expense of reducing hospital hours. I'm just thinking out aloud and nothing concrete has been finalized. Stay tuned to the webpage here -- will post my e-journal copy of my vacation exploits in the very near future! |
Thanksgiving, indeedWednesday, October 16Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! It was a good weekend for me -- ate lots, completed some errands and had a clearer view of what I want to do professionally. First off, Dorothy and I finally got a chance to watch the movie, The Sweetest Thing. Let me tell you that I was quite in for a shock -- the movie actually offended me. Can you believe that?! I think some of the toilet humour is directed toward the females in the audience and personally, it didn't float my boat. Even the message at the end was so far-fetched, it wasn't even worth my time. Overall, it was a disappointing experience but to the grrls (notice the spelling), it would have delivered the punch they were looking for. Below is something to whet your appetite. I did over the weekend ... one of my projects. The latest mod to Project TL... door sills! |
Had nice dinners on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. On Sunday, I went over to a family friend's place for din-din. It was an elaborate dinner -- over 9 courses served with an East meets West theme. No, it wasn't fusion, it was an embracing of eastern dishes (sea bass, satay beef, etc) coupled with western dishes (pumpkin soup served in a pumpkin, turkey with cranberry sauce, etc). It was nice to see a couple of friends I haven't seen in a couple of years! On Monday, Vince and Mei took us out to eat at New Kirin Eatery. I enjoyed but started to watch how much starch I consume in a day. Instead of the traditional 4-5 bowls of rice, the amount consumed was down to 1 bowl. It's the start of something... watching what I eat! Yesterday (Tuesday), my mom did her turn with the Thanksgiving theme by serving up some yummy stuff -- roast beef, tempura shrimp and calimari, veggies and even a stir-fry pork dish! What excess! Brilliant! I also had a chance to make a couple of phone calls in the evening. Tried calling up Alka but she was working. Got a hold of my friend, Gurinder. I may help him out next week with his pharmacy. Yup, he's the first in our class (at least to my knowledge) to have a pharmacy of his own that he actually owns. He's working mondo-hours, but the $$$ will be coming in. He can write everything off! |
