Sunday, July 4A belated Canada Day and a Happy 4th of July to everyone out there. Wasn't an eventful w/e for me. Had Canada Day off (thursday). Relaxed and stayed at home. Played quite a bit of PS2 (Onimusha2) but that's a good thing, right? After all those complaints about working like a fiend, it's finally quite enjoyable to have a day off. Guess you take certain things for granted, huh? Friday was a busy day at the walk-in clinic pharmacy I worked over in the east end. Day after holiday normally adds up to trouble ... was busy and a lot of ill patients out there. Never a dull moment there. Plus training a new (potential) tech to add to the fray ... not a pretty sight. |
Saturday was anther coveted day off. Goofed off again ... more PS2 but I also did some chores. Washed 2 cars today -- one in the morning and my car in the evening. Discovered that a pair of valve stem covers (things that you twist off when you add air to your tires) got stolen in the past 5 days (last time I checked tire pressure). That sucks 'cause I had aftermarket covers (have you ever heard of Volk Racing? Probably not unless you know about high-end performance rims) Looking for replacements now ... hard to find and I know they won't be cheap! Dammit! Today, it's working at the pharmacy. Glad to have high speed access, otherwise I wouldn't be updating the webpage (ironic, huh?) Not much planned for the day. I hope it doesn't rain 'cause I just washed my car last night but the radar map looks bad ... oh well ... at least I got all the crap off of my car. And to think ... I was gonna wax it, too. HAHA. |
Friday, July 23Well, my streak of more constant updates came to a screeching halt these past couple of weeks. I've been working super-hard (even for me) the last little bit with a 15-days-in-a-row work period ending today. Whew! But ... that means I have a lot of yardwork to do ... cut lawn, trim bushes ... and even paint the deck if I get a chance! My deck has been neglected for too many years. That means I have to sand it down and paint it with new stuff. Yes, maintenance work would make life easier but guess I was too lazy to get it fixed! Now I must pay the penalty ... |
The weather has been topsy-turvy the past little bit. It reached its highest yesterday ... humidex well over 40 C ... it was awful. (I am so thankful to work in a climate controlled environment like a pharmacy on days like those!) But now it's cooled off. Means I have a great chance to wash & wax the car ... also travel. The w/e I decide to take off -- absolutely brilliant! Headed to TO for the w/e to meet up with friends and a car meet. Bringing along JJ as company. We'll check out a new lounge in Mississauga -- My Apartment (must be owned by the same guy as the one in downtown Toronto). Shopping will also be on the agenda as well! |
Wednesday, July 28Close to the end of the month. Where does the time go??? I did manage to get away to Toronto this w/e with JJ. It was fun to see FJ and her new dog, Toby. He's much smarter than Man Tou ... he tells people when he has to go out to do his business. But he does take issue with nipping at things (including people!) I also went up for a car meet -- it was attended by more than just Acura / Honda enthusiasts. People owning Nissan/Infinitis, Suburus, Madzas all showed up. There were a lot of nice cars who attended. I was impressed to see how organized we (Acuras) were. We showed up at the Colossus parking lot beforehand and then rolled into the meet all together. Patrick (aka ResidualFreedom posted a video of us rolling in. Check out the video. Weather was fantiastic -- couldn't ask for better day to have a car meet. |
Did some shopping downtown Chinatown (Spadina) before heading back on Sunday. Fond memories ... visited the grocery stores, walked around, and most importantly, visited my most favourite BBQ house in all of Toronto -- KJY! They gave me a great deal on food (including a bonus chicken wing for the road.) The drive back was a fast one ... I couldn't believe how fast some of the people driving were passing me. I mean in excess of 140km/h (when the posted limit is 100km/h -- that equates to a C$300+ ticket!) But most of the offenders have Michigan license plates which means they don't have to pay the fine (no reciprocity with Michigan ... but they have reciprocity with us!) They get a souvenir from our hard-working police force for their efforts. (stupid law) So far this week, the weather has taken a turn for the worse ... nothing but rain. Glad that I got my car washed & waxed before the meet ... tons of bugs on it from the drive. I was a little annoyed at how fast gas prices rose. It was as low as 68.3 cents/L in Mississauga on Saturday and jumped to 79.9 cents/L on Sunday morning across Toronto. I lucked out and found a Shell station selling gas downtown for 71.9 cents/L (cheaper than Windsor!) so I didn't feel that bad. Working a lot (as usual) but this week, I've got a surprise 2 days off. I forgot to change my agenda on the Palm Pilot. Had Thursday off but having Sat & Sun off (bonus) because I switched with Donna to work next w/e. Works out nicely for me ... except that I'm working on my dad's b'day on Sunday. No worries -- as long as I get out at 5, there will be plenty of time to go out to eat. |
