Benin-Jeri

You have entered the Benin-Jeri Web Page. For those of you wondering, Ben's a Junkion living in the TransFormers fiction mythos, more specifically in TransFormers 2005, a MUSH, as well as an rpg run by my real life counterpart, Brian J. Kelly.

Ben is a Junkion; as such, his speech consists of a hodgepodge of quotes and soundbytes recorded off of TV. In Ben's case, all of his language is sampled from of British and Hong Kong TV from the last couple of decades, so he sounds sort of like an automatic telephone operator with a weird British/ Chinese accent. Entire sentences are quoted whole ("Hi. I'm Brad Majors.... this is my fiancee, Janet Wise"), and more complex thoughts are strung together from individual words. "My voice IS My passport." ^_^

Ben's best friend by far is his first mate on the Starship V'Ger, Aquisitions Officer Aria. They spent years together in space, and pretty much know each other better than anybody. Ben spends most of his time hanging around with Silent Watcher Kaleidoscope, on whom he's developed quite a crush. Ben's real true love is Quaria, but, concidering she's married someone else, Ben's working on getting over her, and doing a fine job of it. Ben has also recently been reunited with his former protege' Longsight, with whom Ben is anxious to continue his Jedi training. However, Longsight has matured a lot in the years that Ben was away, and really no longer NEEDS a Jedi Master to guide him. Ben has noticed this, but isn't sure quite how to give up his role as guide and counselor.

History:

Ben was built long ago, soon after his group of former Autobots settled on what became known as the Planet of Junk. He lived a quiet life as a counselor and sociologist, but was always itching to explore the cosmos, and often visited the wrecked remains of the ship that brought them all to Junkion. Millenia passed, and then, suddenly, Junkion started receiving first radio signals, then TV signals from Earth. The Junkions lived by collecting the refuse of the universe, recycling it, and then trading the refinished goods and raw materials for energy and resource requirements not found on their adopted asteroid. When the Junkions started receiving signals from Earth, the began recycling and adapting these signals as well, weaving them into their culture, and eventually basing a society on them. Curiosity mounted, and more and more Junkions became interested in the sourse of these signals. Many metaphysical explanations were offered, but eventually scientists pinpointed the signals as coming from a relatively close region of space, perhaps near the Sol system. Junkion engineers and scientists built the first FTL Junkion ship, and Benin-Jeri was one of the first Junkions to volunteer to go. Two Junkions were chosen to go: Benin-Jeri, for his flexibility, friendliness, and adaptability, and Aria, for her coolheadedness, intelligence, and general competence. Their five year mission: to boldly go where no Junk had gone before, and bring back more of this strange media that they worshipped. Unfortunately, the FTL drive was new and untested, and Ben and Aria overshot their objective by quite a ways before burning out their hyperdrive engines. Not wanting to risk the relativistic effects at traveling at sub-light speed, Ben and Ary traveled back in hops... jumping from star to star, staying a while, getting to know the culture, smuggling pre-recorded TV to the yearning masses... then moving on, trying to get back to the Sponsor. Eventually, they made their way back to Junkion to make repairs and head back out... only to discover that the humans had found THEM, two years earlier, while Ary and Ben were still in space. Discouraged, the V'Ger still up on blocks, Ben wanders from Earth to Cybertron, trying to catch up on the news and friendships he missed during his decades in space. While he was gone, the Junkions had changed... decades of TV had made them more erratic, more violent, and more territorial. Ben is having a hard time fitting back in, and often gives up and just takes off in hawg mode for weeks at a time. He can still find friendship in Kaleidoscope and Longsight, but, in general, pickings are slim, and Ben's spacelegs are itching to take off again and leave Cybertron behind...
