Paul's character Mo Morris is a real lad and in the beginning a real yobbo too but you quickly learn to love him, and he shows that his heart is very much in the right place. He's also very funny and has some wonderfully silly moments, as well of plenty of drama, hurt and tears.
Paul is very young (around 23), thin and pale with a flat top haircut that spends most of its time covered by a Liverpool football beanie. He's pretty daggy actually in tight jeans, a tight striped jumper and a battered denim jacket covered in Liverpool football badges. You couldn't really call Paul beautiful in this series but the looks we'll all come to admire are still present they just haven't quite blossomed yet. He is still very cute though and definately appealing. In the last three episodes he becomes inexplicably better looking. It's difficult to explain how, he just looks a lot healthier and his hair has softened a little. His dress sense also improves a lot!
As for his accent, well it's his true blue scouse accent not the "I've trained at RADA toned down 'til it's virtually unrecognisable" scouse accent from Doctor Who. There's eight episodes with the eighth being a 90 minute special. I think that may have been made a bit later (it's certainly set later) because the characters look different and a bit older. There are plenty of familiar supporting actors also including Tony Selby ("Glitz"), Pete Beale from "EastEnders", someone from "The Pirate Planet" and Reg Hollis from "The Bill" calls Mo a "scouse bastard" and tries to beat him up in the first episode. In the special (which I haven't finished watching yet) Mo has suddenly gained a girlfriend who is completely brilliant. Whilst they are obviously crazy about each other their relationship is more akin to a couple of kids who are best mates than of lovers. So far despite seeing them in bed together, they haven't exchanged so much as a peck on the cheek! I'd like her as a best mate myself!
This TV series is pretty difficult to track down but if you ever do find it, do grab a copy, it's a gem. Once again Paul has shown himself to be a talented and versatile actor, although you get the strong impression that he's largely playing himself!
