Philip Casnoff
Philip Casnoff was one of the few actors who had a starring role in North and South and then went on to reprise in depth his character in North and South Book II and John Jakes' Heaven and Hell: North and South Book III. Only Casnoff, James Read, Terri Garber, Wendy Kilbourne, and Lesley-Anne Down were listed under 'starring' for each mini-series and had a substancial leading role. Jonathan Frakes and Genie Francis also picked up their characters' roles in III, but neither had a very large part.
Philip's convincing Georgian accent isn't real as viewers found out when Casnoff portrayed 'David Landau' in the primetime soap The Hamptons and Karen Sillis's ('Rose Phillips; Phil') significant other 'Detective Vitelli' in CBS's now-canceled drama detective series Under Suspicion.
More recently Casnoff played opposite Melissa Gilbert and Bruce Boxleitner in the T.V. mini-series adaptation of Danielle Steel's Zoya and played the title role in the mini-series Sinatra, lip sinching very well :)
