Lesley-Anne Down

Lesley-Anne Down began her career as a model for commercials in her hometown of London, England, and was later named Britain's Most Beautiful Teenager. She started out in British films as School for Unclaimed Girls (1969), Countess Dracula (1970), Pope Joan (1972), and Scalawag (1973).

Her conversion to American audiences' interests came when she played 'Georgina' in Upstairs, Downstairs. She was then in A Little Night Music (1977), The Betsy (1978), The Great Train Robbery and Hanover Street (both in 1979), Rough Cut (1980), and Sphinx (1981).

She was married to director William Friedkin (The Exorcist), but the marriage was much like Down's North and South on-screen marriage to David Carradine's 'Justin LaMotte' and ended in a messy divorce and slanderous custody battle over her son Jack.

On the North and South set, Down met her future husband Don Fauntleroy, who was involved in the photography department during the first two installments and then became the director of photography for John Jakes' Heaven and Hell: North and South Book III.

Since North and South she has stayed mostly with Broadway and a few movies such as 1994's Death Wish V and The Adventures of Baron von Munshie. She recently took the role of 'Olivia' in NBC's newest soap Sunset Beach
