History:
Zauriel was a guardian
angel of the Eagle Host in Heaven. His duties included protecting individuals
from demonic possession on the psychic plane. When Zauriel was assigned
to Shannon (what's her last name?), he fell in love. He then decided to
leave the angelic hosts and live as a mortal. Before he left, he stumbled
upon the Bull Host, Asmodel, and his plan to overthrow the Presence and
rule Heaven. When Zauriel left Heaven, he was followed by Asmodel who feared
his that Zauriel would spoil his plans. In a devastating battle in San
Francisco, Zauriel and the JLA were able to stop Asmodel's attack.
A short while later, Zauriel confronted his mortal
love, Shannon. Unfortunately, Asmodel had not stopped pursuing Zauriel.
Teamed with Neron, he tracked down Zauriel and killed Shannon. With the
help of Shannon's boyfriend Jerry, and another ex-guardian angel,Michael,
Zauriel was able to return to Heaven in time to stop Asmodel's attack.
Shannon was returned to the world of the living as punishment to Asmodel
and Zauriel chose to return as well and begin life as a superhero.
Description:
Zauriel wears a golden set of armor that is
apparently crafted from Heaven's best technology. He originally wore a
toga-like uniform common to all members of the Eagle Host. He is pale-skinned
and has large white wings coming out of his back (he's an angel, y'know).
Personality:
Zauriel is characterized by unparalleled resolve and heroism gained from centuries of experience as a guardian angel. He is a fierce warrior even under the most helpless odds. Zauriel is very fond of life on earth. It is this life as an adventurer that he felt more appealing than his immortality.
