At the beginning of this, the second episode in a three parter, that began with last seasons finale, we find Mac a year later, at a Malaysian monastery, where he is slowly coming to terms with the death of Richie, and the fact that he swung the fatal blow (Ep# 106: Archangel). Still with a heavy heart, but a revitalized spirit and a new-found determination, Mac returns to Paris to take up his role as Champion -- or Avatar -- against the Zoroastrian demon, Ahriman (who is still using the guise of Horton). After saves a woman from drowning -- Sophie Baines --, he finds out that she is the assistant of Dr. Laundry (from Ep# 106: Archangel), and she may be the only person who can tell him how to defeat Ahriman. But, what Mac doesn't know -- Sophie did drown. Her body is in the Morgue! And the body Mac fished out of the river was furnished to her courtesy of Ahriman, but only as long as she is willing to do his bidding -- kill MacLeod.
