2003 Comment: Its been a while since I wrote this one. At the time there was no one that was hated more than Emily. Thankfully she didnt last long but her after effects on Ross and the gang might be still seen today.
New York
Afternoon
"Ok." Ross said into the phone. "I'll see you soon." Ross hung up the phone. "Emily is coming over. She will be here soon. She was just calling from the airport." Ross was taking Emilys call at his sister Monicas apartment.
"Ross, I still feel uneasy about Emily, ever since I had that dream about me having the power to kill her." Phoebe said. "I don't kill things. I'm a vegetarian."
"Everything will be all right."Ross said. "Now I have to find a way to make Emily see the light. That I can't stop being friends with Rachel to please her." Ross said as he sat down.
"I'm sure you'll do a good job." Monica said. "Emily doesnt seem to be that unreasonable."
"I'm sure I can talk to her about this." Ross said.
"Either that or you can throw a disguise on Rachel when Emily comes in." Joey offered.
"That only works in cartoons, Joe." Chandler said.
"Oh yea." Joey said.
"What am I gonna do. Shes gonna be here in twenty minutes." Ross said. "I need an idea!"
La Guardia Airport
Emily Waltham-Geller, Ross's somewhat estranged new wife, was walking through the airport. She thought a little about what she was going to see when she showed up at Monicas apartment to talk to him about their marriage, what was left of it. What if SHE was there? Rachel, the womans whose name he said at her wedding! She had told him that if she ever wanted to see her again, that Ross had to stop seeing Rachel, forever. She didn't think that her ultimatum was drastic at all. Ross might have done the same thing if she had said the name of an ex at her wedding. Of course none of her ex's were at the wedding, but that was besides the point.
Emily was distracted from her thoughts as she saw a man drop something on the ground. Ever the nice person she walked over to him.
"Are you all right sir?" She asked, leaning over to him. "Do you require any help?"
The man looked up at her, then stood up and briskly walked away, holding a thermos like container to his chest like his life depended on keeping it safe.
"Strange man." Emily reasoned. "The whole bloody city is full of them. I should have really made more of an effort to have Ross move over seas." She shook her head and looked at the ground.
Whatever the strange man had been carrying had leaked onto the ground. It looked like coffee, the very strong type that Chandler Bing drank like there was no tomorrow.
Emilys eyes widened as she saw the "coffee" spill begin to move. She started to lift a leg to move aside from the fast moving goo but she was too slow for it. It seeped into the seams of her pumps and slowly started to make its way to her foot. Emily groaned as it entered her foot. Then it split it several different pieces, like broken china, and made its way into her blood stream. It now moved rapidly as it traveled through her blood, quickly rising through her body. She looked up and into a nearby mirrored wall. Her eyes, they were changing! She calmly looked at her eyes as their natural color was somehow diluted and now her eyes were a swimming sea of black. Emily felt like she lost all control of her body. She turned, picked up her bag, which she had dropped during the incident and stiffly marched away, as if nothing had happened.

Washington DC
Agent Dana Scully and Agent Fox Mulder were sitting in the Assistant Director Walter Skinners office. They have been called up from the cozy part of the building where the X-Files have called their home since Agents Mulders office was mysteriously burned down a couple months ago.
It wasnt so mysterious to Mulder, he knew who did the dirty deed.
But the question on both the agents minds is why their boss, and somewhat friend, had called them in. Their answer would come soon.
Walter Skinner came in the door. He took a quick look at the agents before him and settled in his big chair behind his desk.
"You are probably wondering why I called you here today." Skinner said.
"You mean its not to show us your new chair?" Mulder asked. "I was so looking forward to seeing it."
"Anyway, I am giving you an assignment. In New York, mere minutes ago a man was spotted in La Guardia International Airport carrying a canteen with a mysterious substance. When he was asked to open it for inspection, he took off with the canteen half open. He then seemed to fall down, but nothing was found spilled on the ground." Skinner said. "If this is the same substance that you two seem encounter a lot, then it's best to have you go to New York City to investigate."
"Pardon me for interrupting, but we were due for a vacation this week." Scully said.
"Shes right." Mulder agreed.
"Ok, so its a working vacation." Skinner rose from his chair. "Just make sure to come back with some results, and be well rested." Skinner slapped a file folder in front of Scully. "Also you need to talk to this witness. Emily Waltham. She may know something, she was seen around the suspect when he was fleeing."
"We're on it Chief." Mulder took the file fold and slapped it between his palms.
"Don't call me chief." Skinner said on the way out.
"Wow, looks like we are going to New York." Mulder said continuing to slap the file between his hands. "We go all the time, we never see the statue of liberty."
Scully looked at Mulder. She grabbed the file. "Stop that! You do that again, I'll have to kill you." She toted the file under her arm and left.
Hotel
Emily had managed to find herself at a nice enough hotel to call home base for a night. She wasnt totally out of her ability to control her faculities. She knew she had something viciously evil in her body and could not go over to Ross's place looking like she was. She was able to overpower it for a bit and made her way slowly over to a phone. She punched up Monicas phone number, hoping they were home. Considering her situation, Emily thought for an instant about how even seeing Rachel would be better than what she was going through.
Monica picked up the phone as it rang.
"Hello, Geller-Green residence." She said as Ross turned.
"Hello, Monica." Emily struggled to say. "Is Ross there? I would please like to spleak to him."
"Sure." Monica passed the phone to Ross. "It's Emily, she would like to spleak to you."
"Ok." He took the phone. "Hi honey, are you coming over?" He asked hopefully.
"I'm sorry Ross, I am more tired than I thought." Emily said. "I will come over tomorrow morning."
"Oh, ok." Ross said. "If I'm not here, please wait for me."
"I'll be glad too." Emily said.
"Great." Ross hung up the phone. "Wow. Emilys really tired. It's like it took her a lot of effort just to speak one sentence."
Emily walked to the mirror in her bathroom. The black stuff flowed through her eyes like a thick black fluid. Her eyes were dark colored so it was like there was nothing wrong with her eyes at all. But she knew the truth. She leaned over and turned on the water. She let the cold water fill the sink. She stared at the mirror for a minute then dunked her face into the water, completely immsersing it in the cold water. Then she snapped her head back up, her wet hair flew up in back of her. Water splattered on the open door behind her. She opened her eyes to look in the mirror.
She shrieked. It was still there. It was as it nothing had touched them. Then all of a sudden a shock filled her system. She fell to the ground and trembled. She felt cold all over. Emily brought her arms around her. She tried to warm herself by frantically waving her arms all over her body. She stood up, still embracing herself.
"This isnt working." She shivered. Implusively she tore open the shower curtain and turned the hot water on. She then ripped her clothes off and hopped into the shower. She nearly scalded herself in the effort. She turned the water down a tad, then slowly started to warm up. She wrapped her arms around herself. She lowered herself to the shower floor, letting the shower head pelt her with lukewarm water. She closed her eyes, then she started to cry.
New York
Hours later
Mulder and Scully had driven to New York, as they had in the past. They had been to New York more times than they could count. And most of the time it was because of something that would happen to the "gang", as they called them. The group of six people they had taken as friends have had alot of things happen to them.
"You know what?" Mulder said. "After we get a good nights rest, why dont we go see the gang?"
"It's been a while since we seen them. We might as well, this Emily Waltham person may be hard to find." Scully said.
"Remember when I sent Chandler that hacking kit for his computer? Maybe he learned to use it by now and could be some kind of help." Mulder said.
"What kind of help?" Scully turned to her partner. "What hacking kit."
"Nothing really." Mulder waved off the comment. "Emily arrived off a flight from England. I was hoping that we could find out if there was any sort of clue where she was going."
"Maybe shes here to see someone." Scully said. "I knew someone who had a fiancee in England and they flew to see each other all the time."
"Could be." Mulder said. "But lets crash for tonight. We'll have a fresher outlook for tomorrow."
Monicas
Chandler and Monica sat together in a chair while they watched Ross pace.
"I'm sure its nothing." Chandler said.
"Why would Emily decide at the last minute to not come tonight? What is she afraid of?" Ross said sitting down.
"Maybe its jitters." Monica said.
"The jitters thing was supposed to end at the wedding." Ross said.
"But your wedding was not your typical wedding." Chandler pointed out.
"Thank you. I almost forgot that Chandler." Ross said crossly. "I'm gonna go." He said. "Cross my fingers." Then he laughed nervously. "I have to ask you two something."
"What?" Monica said.
"Are you sure you two are not dating, you two are very very close lately." Ross said on his way out. He turned to them.
Chandler and Monica looked at each other.
"No! Me and Chandler are not together. We were just fighting over this chair when you showed up." Monica said.
"But there are three other seats that are free." Ross said.
"I like this seat." Monica said.
"Me too." Chandler said looking at her.
"There you have it." Monica said. "Whats more is there to say?"
"Ok." Ross said. "I'm going now." Ross took one more look at the two before leaving.
Chandler and Monica exhaled
"That was a close one." Monica said. "All this sneaking around is getting to me."
"True, I'm starting to feel like we're on a bad Melrose Place." Chandler said drawing her close.
"Which one?" She asked as they kissed.
"Good point." Chandler said. "I have a feeling everything is gonna be better real soon, and we will not have to sneak around, not worry that any minute now that Joey could blow our cover."
"I know." Monica smiled. "Could you at least return that muzzle you got for him?"
"Why? He seems to like it." Chandler smiled.
Monica laughed, and kissed him again. "He does look good in it."
Emily's Hotel
Emily had ordered room service, finding it a miracle that she even had an appetite after the incident in the shower. What even surprised her more was that she had a huge appetite, something she usually didnt have.. She ordered turkey sandwiches, roast beef, and two pieces of pie. Like it or no, it seemed like Emily was eating for two now. Emily swallowed the last of it and let out a hefty belch. She wiped off her mouth and sighed.
"Mum and dad would die if they saw me, a proper british lady doesnt eat her weight in scones." Emily said out loud. She blinked twice. "I am so tired."
She stretched out her arms and yawned. She then moved the plates off her bed climbed in. As soon as her head hit the pillow she was out like a light.
The Next Day
La Guardia International Airport
Mulder and Scully, fresh after a night of rest at their semi private room at their hotel, arrived at the airport to to talk to witnesses. Their intention was to get a description of the man that was seen, and if at all possible, the woman who was seen standing next to him. The agents walked up to the inspection area.
"May we help you?" Asked one surly gentleman asked.
"Yes, I am FBI Agent Dana Scully, this is Agent Fox Mulder." She said as they flipped out their badges. "We were called about a man that you encountered yesterday?"
"The man with the container?" The guard asked. "We stopped him to look into his container thing. He seemed to be cooperating, but then he ran off with the container half open." The guard gestured them to follow him. "He ran about 50 feet in this direction before stumbling here." He pointed. "A woman off the recent British Airways flight stopped to help him up. He got up and ran away."
"Is that all you that you saw?" Mulder asked.
"After he was out of sight I returned to my post." He shrugged. "What was I supposed to do? I wasn't about to put my lousy job and paycheck at risk for one lone looney. He might have had a gun." The guard rationalized."
"Thank you for your help." Scully said.
The agents turned and walked away, as the guard returned to his post.
"He wasn't any help, Scully, we're in the same hole we were before." Mulder said.
"I was being polite." She said. Scully turned as she heard something. "Do you hear that commotion?"
"Let's go check it out." Mulder said.
They broke out into a dash, with the guard on their tail. They turned the corner near the escalator. The trio stopped cold when they saw what had caused teh commotion.
It was the man that had the container. He was sprawled out behind the escaltor stairs. He was clearly dead.
Mulder and Scully walked over, with the guard in tow.
"Can you identify this as the man that you ran into yesterday?" Scully said gesturing to the man.
"Yes." The guard nodded. "Without a doubt, thats him." He turned to leave, but then made a mad dash to the mens room.
Mulder looked at Scully. "We have to find Emily Waltham."
"Why?" Scully said. "The case is pretty much closed here."
"No its not." Mulder said. "When he dropped the container, there is no doubt that some of it came out. Its simple physics."
"So you are assuming, that when Miss Waltham came over to help, that it went into her?" Scully said.
"Yes." Mulder said. "And based on our experiences with this, this stuff, she does not have long to live."
"But how do we find her?" Scully said. "Tons of people come in from England every day."
"Remember what I said in the car?" Mulder said. "If Chandler Bing has learned that hacking stuff, like I know he would have, then we have a better chance of finding Emily alive."
"Then what are we waiting for. Let's go see our friends." Scully said.
"Let's go." Mulder and Scully headed for the exit.
"Good." She said. "Rachel still has my green scarf."
Emily
Emily was in the bathroom brushing her hair. She ran her fine toothed brush through it and a small clump of hair came out of her head. She sobbed slightly, but she knew there was nothing she could do about it. She looked around in despair. Then an idea. She went out into her bag and got out a colored scarf. She wrapped it around her head where the hair came loose. She went back into the bathroom.
"There, much better." She sighed. "Well Ross, I'm coming for you." She told herself. "Just because I have an alien in me doesnt me you have to love me any less." She tried to joke. She smiled, then she turned the light off.
Chandlers
Joey came out of the bedroom in his underwear. He looked over at Chandler on his computer.
"You know one of these days thats gonna suck you in." He commented.
"I'm sorry, but I really wanted to learn this computer software Fox Mulder gave me." Chandler apologized.
"Hacking? Ew." Joey said. "Tell me one use that could be made out of that."
"Come over here." Chandler said. "I'll show you what good." He tapped a couple of keys. "So what do you want to do?"
"I know." He said, mostly joking. "Go into Baywatch Inc and write a thing saying that the new Baywatch girl is Anna Nicole Smith."
Chandler tapped a few keys. "Done."
"Oh my god." Joey said. "The power!"
"We will use it for good my friend." Chandler said."High five!"
Chandler and Joey highfived as Ross came in.
"Hey guys, come into the girls apartment." Ross said.
"Ok." Chandler said. "We decide who can be Decembers Centerfold for Playboy later, eh Joey?"
"Yeah, but not too long, you dont want to put off a decision like this."
The guys made their way to the girls apartment. As soon as they opened the door, they realized why Ross had come in such a hurry.
Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder were sittin in the dining room. Scully was looking at baby pictures with Phoebe and Mulder was eating some chicken thing made by Monica.
"Hey!" Chandler said. The agents looked up.
"Hey yourself." Scully said.
"We usually call you guys. This is the first time you've showed up on our doorstep unexpected." Joey said.
"They were about to tell us what was up when I decided to get you two." Ross said.
"Yeah." Rachel said. "So why are you here?"
"We needed Chandlers help on a case." Mulder said.
Everylooked in disbelief in his direction.
"What?" He said.
"Remember that computer stuf I sent you a month ago?" Mulder asked him. Chandler nodded.
"I know how to use it, I'm using it legally, right Joey?" He looked at Joey. Joey nodded back.
"Thats ok." Mulder said. "We need your new hacker abilities."
"Sure, how can I help?" Chandler asked.
"We need to find information on a passenger on flight from La Guardia..." Scully started when the buzz on the intercom interuppted them.
Downstairs
Emily used all her strength to push the button leading up to the Geller/Green residence. She was feeling so tired now. Even if Rachel was up there with Ross, she didnt care anymore. A louder electronic buzz opened the door for her.
"I'm coming." She said, feeling her strength drain from every step. "I'm coming Ross."
Monicas
Ross let go of the door buzzer. "This is so great. You'll be able to meet my new wife." He smiled.
"You go married?" Scully said. "Congratulations!"
"Thanks. I'd feel better if not for the circumstances." Ross said. "I said Rachels name at the wedding. She has been mad at me ever since."
"Understandable." Scully nodded.
"So, in order to get her back, she gave me an ultimatum, to stop seeing Rachel again." Ross said.
"But thats impossible." Mulder said. "We live hundreds of miles away, yet we can't stay away from here."
"True." Ross said. "I thought if she came here we would be able to talk a bit about it."
"If thats her, we can come back later." Mulder said.
"No, I'd like you to meet Emily." Ross said smiling.
"Emily?" Scully squinted her eyes. "That would'nt be Emily Waltham, would it?" Mulder looked at her. "One of us had to ask."
"Why?" Ross asked. The door opened.
"Hi guys," Emily came through. She looked as white as a sheet. "it's so nice to see you all again." Emily took a step inside. On her next step she rolled up her eyes, and plunged toward the floor. Thinking quickly, Mulder caught her as she was about to hit the floor.
"Oh my god, Scully." He looked up.
Scully came over to her. "You were right, Mulder, it has gotten inside of her."
"I hope we're not too late." Mulder said.
"What are we supposed to do?" Scully asked.
"I don't know. This is still early." Mulder looked up. "She's been infected by a virus." He informed Ross, who looked like a worried mother hen.
"I'm sorry Ross, I was trying to help." Emily said as black fluid flowed across her eyes.
"Can someone get me some saline?" Mulder said.
"I think I have some, from an old boyfriend anyway." Monica opened a draw and took out a bottle. "Do you need this for her eyes?"
"She has to drink it." Mulder said. He took the bottle and took the small nozzle off. Mulder tipped her head up so she could drink it. She slowly sipped the saline until it was gone. Once she was done, Mulder picked up Emily and put her on the couch.
"All we do is wait." Mulder said.
Later
Mulder looked at Chandler and Monica. He thought for a minute.
"You two aren't together by any chance?" He spoke up.
Chandler and Monica looked at each other.
"Ok, we are together." Monica said.
"Oh my," Rachel said.
"Ross, I like being with him." Monica said.
"Do you see me objecting." Ross asked.
"I'll object." Scully said. "It's like throwing me and Mulder together." She shivered.
"Doesn't say much about me, does it?" Mulder said to Joey.
Joey shook his head.
Then, there was movement on the couch. Emily moved a little bit under her blanket. Ross went to her.
"Emily?" He asked.
She sat up. "Ross? Whats going on?"
"You were sick honey." Ross said.
Emilys eyes moved toward the door, where Rachel was headed.
"Emily, I know you hate me, so I'm leaving. I'm staying away from Ross like you wanted." Rachel said her hand going to the knob. She opened the door a crack.
"Wait." Emily got up, a sudden new energy in her step. "Perhaps I was a bit overboard in asking Ross never to see you again." She said.
"But..."
"Let me finish." Emily smiled. "If I'm married to Ross, I'm also gonna be married to his friends. All of them." Emily said. "Ross will never be happy in his life, if you are not his friend. Please stay." Emily closed the door. "I may not be able to forget that Ross said your name but I know I'll be able to forgive someday."
"Ok." Rachel said. "We got off the wrong foot anyay." Emily and Rachel hugged.
"Great." Ross said. "The two wonderful women in my life."
"I guess we can go now." Scully said.
"Oh, stay too." Rachel said.
"Great." Scully said. "After all we have three days of vacation. What else could happen?"
"Don't ask." Mulder said.
