Hidden Agenda X-Files/Friends

Rachel and Phoebe have more strange experiences that lead them to Washington while being watched by two suspicious, yet well known characters. X-files is property of 10-13 and Chris Carter Production. Friends is a NBC property.

8:00 P.M.
New York

A man sat silently across the street from a modest apartment complex. He was in a dark room. He picked up a pair of night vision goggles and began to watch her again. He watched every movement of the woman and her friends. He sat back and smoked a cigarette. The climax of what was happening to this poor woman and her friends was around the bend.

Rachel's Apartment
Same time
Rachel went around picking up dishes. The friends were there to have a small dinner party to celebrate her new job at the store. Ross wasn't too happy about the mysterious gentlemen she worked for.
"So Rachel who is the boss of this guy?" Ross asked as she took his plate.
"Ross." Monica reproached him.
"No, I think that its something we should know. After all we have been through in the last couple of months, this is yet another thing that smells. Smells to high heaven." Ross declared. Rachel put the dishes in the sink with a clatter
"Its alright Monica." She told Monica as she walked over to Ross's seat. "I don't really know much about the big boss as of yet. Just that his name is Alex.. something with a K."
Ross kissed her. "Thats all I wanted to know. I just want you to be safe. Cause I could never stand a day without you."
"Awww." Phoebe smiled. "That is so cute." Then she cringed.
"What is wrong Phoebs?" Joey asked coming to her side. She felt the side of head with one hand. She traced the pain area with a pinkie.
"I think it's another one of these headaches." She said looking over at Monica. "Monica don't touch that pan!"
"Why ?" She asked and looked over. Then a flame burst in the middle of the pan. Chandler grabbed the baking soda and poured a healthy amount onto the flame. It gasped and went out with a pouf.
"Phoebe?" Rachel asked. "How did you know that was going to happen?"
Phoebe shook her head baffled. Her headache was gone. "I just don't know."

The next day

Rachel ahd driven Phoebe to the doctor for a checkup. She was very concerned about the headache that Phoebe got last night. What particularly intrigued her was the psychic like vision that she had before the grease fire. Phoebe agreed reluctantly to go with her. The last time she had a doctors appointment she was kidnapped. Rachel looked at her from time to time. Phoebe seemed blissfully unaware of anything that could be happening to her.
Rachel pulled into the hospital parking lot and picked a space near the out patient clinic. They walked in and the waited by the nurses station.
"How are you Phoebs?" Rachel said as Phoebe read a leaflet.
"I'm okay." She stared out into space. "Tell me again why we are here?"
"Because of your headaches." Rachel closely at Phoebes face. She noticed that a mark on Phoebes nose never really healed. When she was abducted there was a metal device planted in the bridge of her nose. Agent Dana Scully of the FBI removed it after they found Phoebe. She didn't help it any by constantly running her finger up and down her nose. "You'll be fine."
"I hope so." Phoebe looked around. "We have to leave, I'm reading a very dangerous aura around here."
Rachel looked at her friend. Her friends bizarre vision saved Monica from severely burning herself in last nights surprise grease fire. Rachel was more inclined to listen to what she was saying than dismiss it as some of Phoebes usual weirdness.
A nurse finally attended to them. She gave Phoebe a clipboard to fill out. Soon after they were in one of the doctors examining rooms. Phoebe sat on the table while Rachel leafed through a magazine.
"I don't feel very good about this place." Phoebe spoke.
"What is it do you feel?" Rachel said tossing the magazine aside.
"I feel like there is a very bad man here." Phoebe got up and walked around the room. Her eyes darted everywhere."I think we're in danger."
They quickly turned their heads as the door slammed shut. It locked instantly. The doctor put down his clipboard. "Hi, what can I do for you today?"
"Why did you lock the door?" Rachel asked barely able to speak. The mysterious doctor slipped on a pait of thick plastic gloves. They watched as he stretched the material over his hands. He looked up at them.
"So no one can hear you scream." He held his hands out in front of him and ran at Phoebe. Rachel was knocked onto the ground. She was out cold. Phoebe darted around the room throwing various needles and bottles at him.
"Come on Ms. Buffay. Don't make this difficult. You have to die."
Phoebe screamed and the doctor suddenly stopped and stiffened up. Rachel had risen from the ground and knocked him out with a chair. Phoebe unlocked the door and Rachel ran out. The locked the door behind them and ran out of the medical clinic.

Later

Ross cradled Rachel in his arms. They had run to Rachels apartment. As they told the fantastic story to Monica and Chandler. Phoebe called Ross at the natural musuem. Ross was there on his lunch break. Rachel sobbed into Ross's shoulder while he tried to calm her down.
"What about the guy who attacked you?" Joey asked.
"He was defnielty not a doctor type person. You see this is why I don't go to the dentist. People always die!" Phoebe said.
"I don't know what to do." Rachel said. "This guy and whoever he is working for obviously knows about Phoebes abduction. Then I had that dream about us having alien fetuses..."
Monica looked the group. Rachel saw Ross mouth something. "What?"
"Rachel, we have something to tell you." Monica said.
"What? " Rachels eyes grew small. "You mean it wasn't a dream?"
"Your baby made it through the birth process, but it disapeared shortly afterward. Since it had no chance of being found either dead or alive so the Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scully thought it better that you thought it was a dream. Thats where the excuse about the bad clams came in. We didn't know what else to tell you." Monica said.
Rachel rose and wiped her tears. "There is something we must do."
"What?" Chandler asked.
"We can't go on like this. I can't live in fear for the rest of my life. I don't know about any one of you. But we have to do something to stop this." Rachel wiped her nose and blew it onto a kleenex. "We have to go to the source of what is happening."
"What is you idea?" Ross asked her.
"We must go to Washington and see Mulder and Scully. They can help us."
The other friends looked at one another. It was an unspoked agreement. They knew that Rachel was right and that there is not other way to go about it. Rachel opened her little black book and called the number under X for X-files division. "I only hope I'm doing the right thing for all of us." She said as she dialed the number.
Chandler got his coat and headed for the door. "I'm going to call the office and see if I can get two days off. Not like my being missing will be much of a problem anyway."
Joey joined him as the Rachel waited for the FBI phone to be picked up. When it did she hit the speaker button so all could hear the call.

Agent Fox Mulder reached across his desk to pick up the ringing phone.. He put a file away as he put the phone reciever to his ear.
"Hello." He finally spoke.
"Agent Mulder?" The voice spoke. Evidentally female. "This is Rachel Green? From New York?"
"Oh, yes I remember. How are you these days?" Rachel was obviously on the speaker phone.
"Well, okay considering our circumstances." Rachel said as Joey and Chandler reentered the room. She motioned for them to be quiet and they toook a seat at the kitchen table. "We have not been having the best of times." She paused and looked at Phoebe. "I'm afraid its nothing we can talk about on the phone. Someone attacked Phoebe and I at the doctors office today."
"Oh my god." Mulder said and he looked at Agent Dana Scully."
"We want to come down to Washington and talk to you and Agent Scully. We have to do something. I don't want to live my life in fear. And neither does Phoebe."
"When can you come?" Apparently Scully had picked up an adjoining phone line.
"I don't know. Some of us have work tomorrow." Rachel glanced at Chandler.
"I got a week vacation coming up, I'll just take it tomorrow." He looked sad for a second. "I was going to use that vacation for a trip for Janice but you all know how things work out."
"I got tomorrow off, too" Ross said and Monica nodded. "We can leave at noon."
"Thats good because i can get off it noon tomorrow." Rachel said. "We'll be there as soon as possible. Then we can tell you everything."
Mulder agreed and hung up. "We got company."

The next day.

Rachel was sitting at her desk in the Macys shipping department. She has had the job for a few months. At first Ross was jealous of her boss Mark, but remarkably everything worked out fine in the end. Mark eventually left the company. He was replaced by this mysterious man she has never saw. But she has heard his voice on the intercom. He sounded younger than her, but ten times wiser. Ross and the others packed up a suticase each to bring to their trip to washington. Rachel already turned in a notice that she would be gone for that week. She has not heard anything yet.
"I'm worried." she told Ross at lunch. "What if they won't let me go? I'm as important to the case, or whatever this is, as everyone else."
"Don't worry." Ross said. "Now did you give a legitimate reason for being gone?"
"Sure I did. Visit my grandmother, she could be on her deathbed."
"Then we'll be all right."
Rachel jumped when she heard the intercom button on her phone buzz. She picked it up. "Hello. Rachel Greens desk."
"Rachel? This is Trudy. Mr. Krycek wants a word with you." "Okay." She hung the phone up. At last she'll get a glimpse at her mysterious boss. She picked up a notepad and entered the main office.

Ross shut the lid to the back trunk of the car.
"Are we ready?" Joey asked as he opened his window. Joey sat in the driver seat of his car. Joey and Chandler were driving down in one car, Phoebe, Ross, Rachel and Monica would take the big clunky taxi Phoebes grandmother owned.
"We're set." Ross said getting in the car. "We just have to pick up Rachel now."

Rachel walked into the outer office into the inner office where the secretary that called her sat. "Mr. Krycek will see you now." She said and buzzed open a door.
Rachel nodded and walked in the door. She walked up to the desk and she saw that person behind the desk was turned away from her.
He turned around. "I'm Alex Krycek. Your new boss." He extended his right and she accepted it. She couldn't help but gaze at his left arm. Obviously something happened that required him to have a prosthetic arm. He felt her gaze.
"Hiking accident." Krycek said and he sat. "I understand that you asked for a week vacation to go to a relatives."
"Yes." Rachel said. "My grandmother is a very loving being, she always has family around even if she had a small cold."
"We both know thats not true."
"Why do you say that." Rachel stumbled. She felt Krycek's cold glare at her. How can he know about the things that have been happening? Impossible.
Krycek rose and walked toward her seat. Rachel cringed slightly as he sat and took her hand. He rubbed it gently.
"You see Ms. Green I know more than you think." His hand gripped onto hers. She let out a small yelp. "You're going to Washington to see Scully and Mulder." He spoke with an icy tone. His firm grip was starting to bruise her hand. "But you're going nowhere."

Main Office
Ross opened the door to the main office and went to the front desk.
"Is Rachel Green here?" He asked.
"No, she's in Mr. Kryceks office." The secretary said. There was a slight rattle in the back ground. It grabbed Ross's attention and he darted to the back of the office.
"You can't go there!" The secretary cried.
Rachel knocked over the chair getting up. She got behind it as Krycek leapt for her neck. His fingers grabbed hold of her blazer and he dragged it down. His hand traveled up her chest to her throat and wrapped his hands around them. He started to squeeze. She tried to scream but just couldn't. Suddenly Krycek slumped against her. Ross was behind him with a broken chair. Rachel gasped for breath as Ross dragged her out of the office.

A few hours later.
The small caravan had no further trouble driving their way to Washington. After Kryceks abrupt attack on Rachel, Ross checked on her every once in a while. Rachel watched any and all cars that passed them. After what she had been through, it seemed paranoia was the only solution at this point in time. They slowly wound their way through the many streets of Washington looking for the FBI headquarters. Surprisingly Mulder and Scully met them out front. Scully held a huge envelope.
"Here." She said opening it. "They wouldn't let you past the security desk without an official pass." She gave them each an unlimited visitor tag, which they all pinned on their coats.
"Its a good thing you came down this time." Mulder said. "The assistant director talks about this case often." Mulder explained on the way into the building. "For some reason the higher ups have taken exclusive interest in your problems lately. That is why we set up a surveillance unit outside your apartments."
"Oh, the smoking creepy guy?" Joey asked as he looked around the foyer of the building.
"No, what do you mean?" Scully asked.
"Well for the last couple of nights a smoking guy has been watching us across the street. One of Joeys dates found out and actually mooned him." Chandler explained.
Scully looked at Mulder. He had the same thought. "Cancer man."
They then whisked the gang into the elevator and rode down to the basement. The basement was where the x-files were found. Scully had been assigned there with Mulder just shy of five years. Mulder knew that was the only safe place to talk without Cancer Man listening in.
As they reached the office Scully received a call on her cell phone. She talked for a minute. "Mulder, that was pathology. They have information for us about the last case."
"Okay." Mulder said and opened the door. "Stay right here. We'll be right back."
"But..." Rachel interjected.
"You'll be safer down here." Scully said. "Hardly anyone knows about this place."
They closed the door. Ross turned on the light. His head turned when he heard the lock click.
They walked around looking at the small cramped office Mulder uses for his work. There were scattered files all over the desk. Monica being the neat freak she was picked up one and looked a the cover.
"Hey, look at this." Monica said as she flipped open the file.
"Don't touch that!" Rachel said. "Thats government property you have there."
"Just look." Monica shoved the file in Rachel's hands. "Its about us!"
Rachel said down in a slightly worn chair and read.
"This is an x-file." Rachel looked at the label on the file folder. "Its about when we first met. The ugly naked guy thing. Full details and other information about our other troubles. Wow."
"Why do you think this is in here?" Ross asked her.
"There are thousands of these files in here." Monica pointed out the dark gray cabinets. "We're not the only people this happens to."
"You're right." Scully said. They turned unaware that the agents had reentered the room. "We were considering a few solutions to your situation."
"Like what?" Joey asked.
"Well, for one thing, we could have people watch you 24 hours a day. But the assistant director would never approve such an approach. And there is one other thing..."
"What?" Rachel cried.
"Have you ever heard of the Witness Protection Program?"
They looked at one another. "But I thought that was for mob informants, and other people in danger." Ross said.
"It is." Mulder said. "You are even in more danger than anybody else. But there is one problem: you would all be split up, never see each other again."
Rachel squelched a scream under her breath. Ross held her tightly.
"Well, you cant do that!" Chandler said, for the first time becoming serious. "Ross has wanted to be with her for years. He is not about to let that be undone by a psychopath, government or otherwise." He paused and lit a cigarette. He took a long puff. "There has to be another way." He finally declared.
"There is." Scully spoke up. She took the x-file from Rachel. "As long as this x-files is unsolved, you will never have peace."
"Right." Rachel said.
"So the only thing we can do is...get rid of the story."
"What?" Ross asked. Mulder looked a little bewildered himself, which sometimes was difficult to tell anyway.
"If there is no alien baby," Scully explained. "then there is no story. And where there is no story, a case cannot exist."
"Crazy, but it makes sense." Phoebe said. "But what about me? I've always had surface psychic abilities. But since my ...you know.. I've been more aware of things."
"That is normal for a woman in your case." Mulder explained. "In a couple of months they will either stay or go away completely. In either case its nothing to make a big deal out of. Try playing the lottery, maybe you'll win something."
Rachel walked toward the agents. "What do we do?"
"Come with us." Scully said and led the group out the door.
Rachel and the others were lead into a small room with a lot of technical equipment. She looked around. Lots of surveillance equipment, computers with gigabits of available memory. Whoever these people were, she thought, must be the tops in their field. She saw three men crouched around a small table. Mulder shook the bearded mans hand and turned to the group.
"These three gentlemen are a very valuable source to Scully and myself. Byers, Frohike and Langley."
"We heard about your predicament." Byers said as he rose. "I think we have just what you need to accomplish your mission."
They sat down and listened to the agents talk. "What we have to do is get rid of the fetus. Destroy any connection that any one of us have to it." She looked at Rachel. "Rachel its being kept in a special building. Only one us of can go, so it will not be perceived as suspicious."
"I take it that Rachel will be undertaking this mission." Ross interrupted. "No, I won't allow it."
"Ross, honey." Rachel crossed to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I have to do this. Would you rather be paranoid, looking around every corner, not ever being able to sleep again? Not trusting anyone ever? Or would you rather be in the WPP where we would never see anyone we loved again. Its a harsh choice I know Ross, but think of what will happen if we ignored it. It will affect Ben when he got older, as well."
Ross looked at her. She couldn't help but notice his puppy-dog like eyes pleading with her. "Okay." He said instead.

Later....
Rachel opened the door to the office building. She word thin glasses which contained sound and vision capabilities. The agents will be able to help here out if she got in trouble. She also hefted a heavy case which she would put the fetus into. The case contained a kind of strange device. Byers explained it would neutralize the fetus and reduce it to DNA, and then nothing. She didn't understand a word of what he said. Ross was like that when he got really excited about a new bone he got for the museum. Rachel listened as Scully directed her through the halls.
"A girl could get lost in here." She said to herself, but not loud enough for other people to hear her. Scully had given her the correct credentials so she could get through without arousing unnecessary interest.
"Okay Rachel, get on the elevator and go to the third floor." Scully dictated as she saw Rachel press the button. "We're almost there."
Rachel nodded slightly in the reflective metal door of the elevator. The elevator stopped and she got off.
"Its straight ahead." Scully said.
Rachel opened the door and was stopped at a checkpoint station. She gave her card.
"Password Ms. Scully." Rachel was told.
"Uh oh." Scully said. "Say purification."
"Be careful." Mulder said. "This checkpoint has less holes than a donut." The guard looked at Rachel, then buzzed the door to let her in.
"Bingo."
"..was his nameo?" Chandler said.
Scully ignored him. "Rach, the container is filed under your name at the end of the room. In your bag is a container with dead matter that looks the same as the fetus. Make the switch then leave."
"O.K.."
Rachel made the switch and then closed the case. She stood and took two long and deep breaths. She then hefted up the case and turned to leave. Someone blocked her way.
"Krycek!" Mulder said and left the room.
"Stay calm Rachel..." Scully said.
But her comment fell on deaf ears. Rachel screamed as Krycek took hold of her hands. She dropped the case. She threw her fists at them, but to no affect. Krycek moved his hands to her neck.
"He's going to kill me..." Rachel thought as he squeezed her neck. She gagged.
Ross had turned away. He had already attempted to leave but Scully told him that until Mulder reached her, there was nothing they could do.
Mulder reached the outer checkpoint and showed the guard his id. Mulder knocked down the door before it could be buzzed open. He saw Krycek kneeling on the floor. Rachel was now turning blue and losing consciousness. Mulder had not choice but to use his gun. He might hit Rachel but he had to save her. He pulled it out and held it in front of him.
"Get your hands off her!" He roared.
Krycek looked at Mulder but didn't release his grip. Mulder remembered not to shoot his fake right arm. He shot Krycek in the stomach. He fell over and let go of Rachel's neck. Blood now poured out of him and onto the floor. A healthy amount got onto Rachel. Mulder scooped up Rachel and the case and left the room.
"Cleanup on isle nine." He told the guard on his way out. Rachel now slept in his arms.

An empty field
The container was dropped into a garbage can and was set on fire. The fetus inside was dead but the DNA was still useful, so the whole thing had to be destroyed. they watched it burn for a while and got back into their cars. When they arrived at FBI headquarters Scully gave Rachel all the x-files that had been about the incidents. Phoebe slowly lost her psychic powers sat in her grandmothers cab and waited. The sooner this got over with, the better.
"I don't expect to see you guys much anymore." Mulder said.
"Officially your file is closed. You can do what you want to with the information."
"Probably throw it into a bonfire." Rachel said. "Its better off forgotten."
"We're so sorry for all the trouble we caused you. If we hadn't been so interested in the ugly naked guy...." Scully said.
"No." Monica said. "If it wasn't you it would have been someone else."
Scully nodded. "You better get going if you to make New York by morning."
Rachel hugged Scully and Mulder."We'll see you around."
They got into the cars and drove away. Mulder and Scully sat on the front steps. "Do you think we'll see them again?" Scully asked.
"Its doubtful. Not unless they discover they have a flukeman for a neighbor."

The end.
