Davy led Brianna out to the pool.
"I don't know why we're doing this." Brianna said. "Summers almost over."
"But the best thing about living in California is that you get to go swimming almost any time you want to." Davy said. "Besides what else are we going to do? Mike and Karen and Peter are off somewhere in time, and I don't think you can pry Chea and Micky apart with a spatula."
"True." Brianna said. "I often wonder if one of those two are going to get married."
"Me too, but I don't think they have known each other long enough." Davy said.
"Easy for you to say." Brianna said. "But every time I see Mike look at Karen, its like they have already a future in store for them."
"What do you see for us luv?" Davy asked.
"I dunno. I haven't been here as long. I'm still getting used to things around here." Brianna admitted. Davy nodded understandably.
"Its the same thing with swimming." Davy said. "Testing the waters, then getting in one toe at a time." He smiled at her. "Please? You'll be my first student."
Brianna looked at Davy. She couldn’t resist that smile. "Okay." Brianna said. "Let me get changed. Thank god I have a suit that fits this time!"
She darted in the house at the same time Micky and Chea were coming out.
"Thank god." Davy thought. "I thought they were gonna hole themselves up forever."
"World One"
Karen and Mike arrived in the first of their "scavenger hunt worlds". The landscape was animated.
"Oh man." Mike said. "Where are we?"
"Judging by the sheet, were are on Johnny Bravo." Karen said. She looked down. "Hey we're cartoons!"
"We musta changed when we came in." Mike said. Suddenly his hat was bigger, for comic affect he decided. And he was taller and slimmer. Like a backwards cousin of Shaggy on Scooby doo.
Karen on the other hand was more beautiful...almost goddess like. Especially in Mikes eyes. But there was a definite change in her that could immediately be seen. Her clothes were tighter. She looked down again and covered her chest.
"Okay, its pretty obvious this cartoon is drawn by a man." She huffed embarrassingly.
"I think you look ok." Mike said blushing. He tried not to look.
"Oh well." She sighed. "What are we here for? Let's make it quick. I'm getting stared at!" She said looking at a blond man across the street. He stared at her.
"We are here for Johnny Bravos favorite comb." He looked up at Karen who was already fighting off the advances of the same blond guy.
"Hey pretty mama." The man said. "My name is Johnny. What's your name?"
"Excuse me!" Mike said. "This here is my girl."
"Oh?" Johnny said with Karen now in his arms. "Is he yours?"
"Yes." Karen said. This must be that Johnny Bravo guy. She should have known better, she had seen at least one episode with Chea. She looked behind him. His comb was sticking out of his back pocket.
"This is my girl, and uh I'm ready to fight for her." Mike said putting out a weak fighting stance. Karen looked at Mike for a minute. She was flattered by his offer to fight for her but at the moment she had more important things in mind. The comb was just waiting to get grabbed.
"Oh yeah?" Johnny said. He almost dropped Karen. Karen
saw her chance and grabbed the comb as he went by. She stashed it in her bag before he noticed it was gone. Peter finally appeared around a corner.
"Peter where have you been?" Karen asked as he helped her up.
"I landed in another part of town." Peter said.
"Hmm." Karen said.
Johnny looked like he was about to get into a fight with Mike but then he reached back for his comb. He patted his pocket and found nothing.
"Hey, uh my lucky comb!" He said. He patted some more. "It's gone."
"Maybe you left it at home." Peter suggested.
"That’s right. Maybe I did." Johnny said. "You stay right here pretty mama. Johnny will be back soon and everything will be all right."
"Yeah," Karen said. Johnny ran down the street in a cartoon puff of dust.
"Let's get out of here before he comes back." Karen said.
"I agree." Mike said. "I look like a huge dork."
"We'll hold hands like in the old days. Peter ended up on the other half of town." Karen said.
"I had to walk five blocks." Peter nodded.
"Hopefully the next place we go is a little more friendly as we go to..." Karen said and punched in the destination. In a second they were gone.
