Peter sat at the kitchen table listening to the conversations between Phoebe and her friends. During the last day he had something on his mind. The scavenger hunt must be coming to a close. He could feel it. They were going to be back any minute now. But what to do? Should he stay or should he go? For that minute he didn’t know. Hopefully the guys would take a little longer in finding the last few items on their list.
Peter looked at Phoebe. She smiled at him while he listened to one of Chandlers jokes. She was so beautiful. If he wanted to he could take her with her back to his time. But that was impossible. This was her place and this is where was she belonged. Friends would not be friends without Phoebe around.
Then on that same token, would there be a Monkees without a Peter Turk? He rubbed his chin while he thought some of the most serious thoughts in his life. He just has to have a chance to get her alone.
His chance came unexpectantly. Phoebe drank the last of her ice tea.
"I'm gonna get some air." She said.
"Me too." Peter said getting up to follow her. They crawled through the window onto the outer deck.
"Pheebs?" He said.
"Yeah?"
"We need to talk." He said.
"Oh?" Phoebe said with a hopeful look on her face. She saw the expression on his face. "Oh." She said more quietly.
"What’s going on?" Chandler asked.
"I dunno. I got a bad feeling." Monica sighed.
1997 - Seattle
The foursome appeared in an elevator.
"Oooh." Brianna laughed. "Second floor, ladies lingerie."
"That’s a great song." Karen said.
"What song?" Mike asked.
"The one uh never mind." Karen said. "Where are we now?"
The doors opened at the top of the building. They walked out onto a hallway. There was a large picture window that let them look upon the city.
"Seattle." Davy said.
"And its raining." Mike said.
"What are we here for?" Brianna asked.
"Frasier Cranes newspaper." Karen said.
"Wow." Brianna said.
"Just be lucky she didn’t have us take Eddie the dog." Karen laughed.
"I think Frasier would love us for life if we did that." Brianna said.
"Frasier?" Mike asked. "That guy we saw in the bar? Cheers?"
"Frasier is the huge spin-off of Cheers. They won five Emmys." Karen noted.
"Cool." Davy said.
"Let's go. He lives on the floor below us." Karen said. "This will take all of two seconds."
They rode the elevator down. They immerged from the elevator.
"Okay his apartment is right here." Karen said.
"His papers gone." Mike said.
"Oh well, next world please?" Davy said.
"Oh come on. We haven’t missed an item yet. We are almost done, its no time to skip one." Brianna said.
"Okay." He muttered.
"So how do we get in?" Mike asked.
"Excuse me." A man behind them said. They moved. It was Frasier.
"Oh my god its him." Brianna said. "Can I have your autograph?"
The doctor looked at her and smiled. "Why certainly, anything for the fans."
They followed him in.
"I have a lovely new headshot, you'll be the lucky first to get one." He said. He went to his room.
"An autograph?" Mike and Davy asked.
"Hey we're in aren't we? While Frasier is looking for his pictures, you guys look for the paper." Brianna said. "I'll keep him busy."
"Where is she going?" Davy asked.
"With Frasier to his room." Mike said.
"You don't think they are..."
"No!" Karen and Mike said half shouting.
"He puts his paper here. Its gone." Karen said.
Just then a dog, a terrier maybe, ran out from the kitchen with the Seattle Herald clenched in his teeth.
"There." Karen said.
"Get the paper Davy, he’s right in front of you." Mike said.
"I can't." He said.
"Why?" Karen asked.
"He's staring at me." Davy said. "Its creepy."
"Its your imagination." Mike said.
"Okay, but you better hope this dog has had his shots!" He said. He crept forward and grabbed one end of the paper. The dog fought him, holding the other end.
"He's a bit of scrapper." Davy said.
"Oh no, they're coming back." Karen said. Eddie inexplicably let go of the paper and ran toward Daphnes room.
"Great." Davy said. "The bloody dog slobbered all over it."
"Oh that’s funny, I love that musical." Brianna said as she came back with the doctor. She must have asked for signatures for all her friends, she had a small pile. The doctor was beaming.
"Are you sure this is all you need?" He asked politely. Karen listened to the sound of his voice from across the room. It was one of the voices she thought to be incredibly sexy.
"I'm positive." Brianna said with the small pile.
"Thanks for coming by." Frasier said with a warm smile. "Tell your friends to listen to KACL 920."
"Will do." Karen said. They waved to the doctor as the door closed. Mike and Davy hit the button to the next world. They vanished before anyone could notice they were even there.
Friends world
"What do you want to talk about?" Phoebe said.
"It's almost time for the guys to come back for me." He said.
"And you have to decide whether you want to stay or go?" Phoebe nodded, picking up on his wavelength.
"Right." He smiled. "You always know what I'm thinking."
"It's cause we're connected." She said. "It's like I said to Ross about Rachel, you're my lobster."
"Lobster?"
"They mate for life. They are with each other for life." She said. "Like us."
"I want to stay with you." Peter said.
"But you can't right?" Phoebe said.
"Right."
"We all belong in our own little worlds." Phoebe said. "Me and you, we are one world, one long connection that will never be broken. Even if you go back I will still have you here." She pointed to her chest. "for a very long time."
"The same for me." Peter said.
"Who knows, maybe it was meant to be like this. I mean what if the girls decide to go back to their own real time? It might come up someday." Phoebe said.
"I know." Peter said.
"I'm gonna miss you." Phoebe said.
"You too." Peter said.
They stood together on the patio deck and watched the world go by.
1999
It was dark, and it was creepy. The group stood outside the town line to a town.
"Oh well, its nice to be back in LA." Mike said.
"We're not in LA." Davy said.
"You sure?" Mike asked.
"I'm positive." Davy said. "And this welcome to Sunnydale sign is even more proof that we're not home."
"Sunnydale?" Brianna asked. "We're on the hellmouth!"
"I'm sure the towns not that bad, Brianna." Davy said.
"No, she's right. We're on Buffy the vampire slayer." Karen confirmed.
"Who the what now?" Mike asked.
"You're so cute when you're confused." Karen smiled.
"Buffy the vampire slayer." Brianna explained. "Its a cult fantasy show."
"This girl named Buffy goes around and kills vampires." Karen added.
"AHhhh!" Davy said. "There’s not any around here are there? I've had my share of vampires!"
"That’s not even counting the time he was one." Mike said.
"I don't think we will run into any." Karen said. "We just have to get a cross of Buffys and we can split."
"Wait a minute." Brianna said. "Where do I stash these Frasier photos he gave us?"
"Save them." Karen said. "Maybe we can sell them on ebay if we ever head back home."
They walked into town.
"Wow, this town really shuts down at night." Mike said.
There was sudden footsteps behind them.
"Is there someone there?" Brianna asked.
No one moved. There was a sudden flash.
"Hiya!" A blond woman tackled Davy and sat on his torso. She pulled out a stake.
"Whhhaaaa!" Davy said. "What are you doing?"
"You're a vampire, time for bed." She said. "Man I need to work on my catch phrases."
"Wait!" Davy said. "I'm not a vampire, I'm English!"
"I've known English vampires before." The woman said.
"Buffy?" Karen asked. Buffy looked up.
"How did you know my name?" She asked.
"It's not important." Brianna said. "but from one valley girl to another, you really need to update your highlights."
"Davy isn’t a vampire." Mike said. "He faints at the sight of blood."
Davy saw his chance. He saw a cross hanging from her belt. He took it and stuffed it in his pants. A pointy end got him in a weird and painful place. He shifted it to the left.
"I'm sorry man." Buffy said. She helped him up. "What are you guys doing in Sunnydale."
"Seeing relatives." Davy said. "But they're..."
"Not home." Mike said. "They are in the cemetery."
"The cemetery?" Buffy asked.
"We got strange family." Brianna said.
"Since you're not a vampire, then I will let you go." Buffy said.
"You're welcome..." Davy said turning to look. She was gone.
"Weird bird." Davy said.
"We're friends bound!" Mike said as they punched in the code.
Friends World
The quartet entered Central Perk as Phoebe ended one of her songs.
"Hey guys!" Phoebe said. "Peter the guys are back."
"Great." Peter said coming up to them.
"Have you made a decision?" Mike asked.
"I'm coming back with you." Peter said.
"This decision couldn’t have been easy." Karen said.
"I know, but I know in my heart me and Phoebe will be connected together." Peter said.
"He's taking this awfully well." Davy said.
"I know." Brianna said. "This is a good sign."
"Let's go." Mike said. "I'm really starting to miss home."
"Me too, I need a bath." Karen said.
Peter kissed Phoebe on the cheek. They shared a meaningful glance, then he followed the guys out the door. They were gone in seconds.
1967
The floor was covered in lps. Micky and Chea poured over the albums.
"I can't believe they gave us all these albums for free." Micky said.
"Half of them them I have never heard of, and I'm supposedly the music expert. Donny and the Reptarians? Who???"
"The Whos great!" Micky said. There was a flash of light.
"They're back!" Chea said popping up. Micky got up and joined the gang on the beach.
"Peter!" Micky said hugging his friend. "You came back."
"Of course I did." He smiled. "The gang isn’t the gang without all of us here."
"Ahhh," Chea said. "Group hug!"
They gang hugged each other.
There was a weird sound coming from the gadgets.
"What’s that?" Mike asked.
Chea took the time gadgets from Mike and Davy. "Oh this simply means the batteries need to be recharged. It might take a month or two."
"A month or two?" Micky asked.
"Swedish batteries." Chea said. "Uncle Jessup always used cheap stuff."
"I guess this means we can't go time tripping for a while. Its a good thing we got Peter back while we could." Davy said.
"No problem." Chea said. "You guys can hang out for a while, and me and Mick can help Brianna and Karen look for a job."
"What about the slurp shoppe?" Karen asked.
"I'll explain later." Chea said.
"Let's go to bed." Karen said. "I'm exhausted."
"Time travel will do that to you." Mike said. "I have something to ask you."
"What?" Karen asked.
"Will you marry me?" He asked.
"What?" Karen replied.
"I know its a little sudden." He said.
"I know. Can I think about it?"
"Sure." He said. "You know where to find me."
Mike left the room. Karen sat down to think. "He just asked me to marry him. What do I say to that? Oh well I'll think about it tomorrow, for tomorrow will be another day."
