One Long Night

The Airport

One of the biggest surprises, other than the fact the girls were repeating days, was that Harley was already at the airport. The girls thought they would have to wait an hour or more.
"Oh no mates." Harley said. "Qantas had a last minute cancellation on an earlier flight, so jumped at the chance. Pretty good eh?"
"Shes australian and canadian." Nancy observed. "We have something to tell you."
"Please make it good news, okay?" Harley said. "The aiport just told me they lost my suitcase with princess costume in it."
"If we see Elton John in taffeta, we have our main suspect." Nancy smiled.
"Its this one." Harley said showing her a clipping from a magazine.
"Dude, even Elton has better taste than that." Desy shook her head.
"The clerk said it would look good on me." Harley said puzzled. They made their way out to the car with what they had of her luggage.
"Trust me, as a store clerk, we just want your money." Nancy answered.
"Shes right." Desy said.
"God bless america." Rosie said as she opened the trunk of the PT Cruiser. "I guess."
"We still have something to tell you." Tippy said.
"What? Tell me on the way to the house." Harley said getting in the backseat with Jean and Desy.Tippy rode shotgun while Rosie squeezed into the back seat.

On the journey home Nancy and Jean related the best they could about the time situation. Harley nodded as they explained it.
"So what is causing this?" Harley asked. "You say you have different days but what is the common denominator?"
Jean looked at Nancys reflection in the rear view mirror. "By George I think shes got something."
"She might. And dont call me George, Miss Daisy." Nancy smiled.
"Just drive the car Hoke." Jean rolled her eyes.
"It seems like everyone is normal till the morning we go to bed. I change my new cow clock and go to sleep." Nancy reviewed. "Its all downhill from there."
"Then that has to be it. The clock." Tippy said. "Don't touch the clock when we get home."
"How do we know its the clock?" Desy asked.
"I don't know but we better try something or we will be stuck here forever." Jean said sadly.
"I'll bring it down when we get home." Nancy said. "Maybe Micky can still get a refund."

Nancy came to the top of the stairs with the clock in hand. Rosie had gone up with her to get the costumes. They had finally managed to get a good one for Harley, and it was somewhat appopriate....for her name anyway.
"Nancy picked me out a biker babe costume." Harley said trying it on.
"And its so tasteful." Desy sighed.
"Actually it is. I'm almost completely covered in leather." Harley said. "I sure hope its not hot at the party."
"I'll be right down." Nancy said. She started to move down the stairs. She turned her head slightly and forgot to look down for the next stair. Her foot shot up and out from her under her. She tried to regain her balance but couldnt. She tumbled down the stairs with the clock rolling ahead of her. The clock bounced once at the end of the stairs. The girls gasped, everyone held their breath. The clock bounced again before shattering intoa thousand pieces. The only sound was Nancy tumbing down the rest of the stairs. She landed on her butt next to the broken clock. The clock made a sad mooooing sound as it died.
"Are you all right?" Jean asked as Rosie came down the stairs.
"Just terrific. I need a new skull." Nancy whined. She held the back of her head. "I'm still alive, and on October 30 too."
"Its gonna take you much more than falling down the stairs to get you out of this." Desy said.
"Wow the clock is totalled." Tippy said.
"I know." Desy said. "What do we do now?"
"Nothing. Sweep it up a little bit." Jean said patting Nancy on the shoulder. She helped her up. "Maybe this will break the chain."
"I'll get a broom." Harley said. "Nancy can sweep it up."
"And look the perfect costume for it." Jean said winking at Nancys wicca costume.
"Thats a witch joke, I knew it!" Nancy smiled painfully as she rubbed her head. "My head hurts, maybe we knocked somthing loose. If you all find a marble, its mine!"

The Party

The girls arrived at the party in their costumes. It was decided, except for Harley anyway, that they wear what they intended to war to the party in the first place. No switching, no new locations, nada. The only real differance was that the house was closed down for the night, Rosie was at the party now too.

"Great. Now we can get that Rosie and Tippy duet we all dreamed of." Desy said smiling.
"We were?" Nancy asked, her head still hurting.
"Awww babe." Micky said as he came to her from across the room. "You look like you're in pain. I got something to make you feel better." He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her on the cheek. "Does that help?"
"Yeah." She smiled with a cute glow. "Do that a lot."
"And not around us." Desy said blowing a raspberry. "You have tuna rolls to make!"
"How does she know we need snacks?" Micky asked.
"Shes smart." Nancy smiled at her friend. "But I think I will make deviled eggs instead."
"Neat." Micky said. "Anything deviled is my speciality."
"I think she created a monster." Tippy said before going off with Rosie to see Peter. They had the lyrics to the song they had to sing in hand. She gave it to Peter who read it once, and like in a previous day, had it memorized very quickly.

Desy stood at the front of the stage. Mike flanked her on one side and Tippy and Rosie on the other.
"Its open mike night!" She announced. And here are our first two singers." She pointed to her side. "Give it up for the vocal stylings of Tippy and Rosie!"
Everyone politely applauded as the guys tuned up behind them.
"Here we go again." Tippy sighed.
"Again? I didnt even come to this party the first few times. I'm beginning to think I missed nothing."
They looked at each other as the band started to play "Kicks".

Tippy sang the first verse. "You thought you found the answer on that magic carpet ride last night."

Rosie sang the next one. "But, when you wake up in the morning, the world still gets you uptight."

Tippy took over again. "Well, there's nothing that you ain't tried. To fill the emptiness inside, but, when you come back down, you still ain't feeling right."

They then sang together for the chorus."It seems like kicks just keep getting harder to find, All your kicks ain't bringing you peace of mind, before you find out it's too late, You'd better get straight."

Micky popped in with the next verse. "But not with kicks, you just need help now."

"I'm so ready for this night to end." Nancy said. "I want to see if my world class clumbsiness is what sends this day into tomorrow." She said to Harley.
"I'm not even thinking about that." Harley said standing next to her. "I squeak when I move. I hate that."
"Maybe the costume needs some WD-40." Jean opined.

After the party the girls went home exhausted. When they got there, they noticed that someone toliet papered the house.
"I guess someones upset at not getting candy." Jean muttered as they cleaned up the wet soggy mess.
"More for us." Nancy said. "After the last few days I need a treat."
"So what do we do after we're done cleaning up?" Tippy asked.
"We go to bed." Desy yawned. "Wake up tomorrow hopefully."
The rest agreed this was a good idea and went inside the house. Harley went to her guest room while the others went to their own room. Nancy looked at her CSI calender. It would be tough tell if the next day had come because Saturday and Sunday were on the same sheet of paper. Nancy grabbed her calendar, ripped off a day so it said Monday, and replaced it on the end table where she found it. She then undressed and got into a "I'm with stupid" nightshirt and went to bed for the night.

The next morning

Nancy woke up and rolled of bed. She yawned and went by her mirror. The sight shocked her. "God I need a haircut." She sighed. She looked down at her outfit. She was not wearing the nightgown she wore Saturday morning. In fact she was wearing the very same "I'm with stupid shirt" she had thrown on only hours ago. A big grin formed on her face.

Nancy burst out of her room and banged on every door.
"Its Sunday!" She cried to everyone who opened their door to great the messy haired sight. "What is it?" Jean muttered.
"The next day happened!" Nancy said. "The clock was key."
"Wow." Desy said and went back to her room. She stopped midstep. "So it is your fault. Getting your clock and everything."
"The last time was a gift from Micky." Nancy said. "I don't see what was so wrong with it."
"Shes right." Tippy said wrapped up in a comforter. "She could have had a long life with it if she didnt keep doing one thing, actually using it as a clock."
"Thats right, when I changed the clock I put it to the right time and then back a little, so basically I wound the whole day back by accident."
"But nothing happened till we went asleep." Desy said.
"My head hurts." Harley said. "I dont get it at all."
"The clock was creepy, and it had bad powers." Desy said. "Thats all there was to it. My creepy shivers were a warning. I think I had more of them every time we went back to the beginning of Saturday."
"And how can your head hurt? I fell down the stairs." Nancy rubbed her head.
"For the good of all mankind, girl." Rosie assured her friend. "Want breakfast?"
"Sure." Nancy said.
"Just a second." Jean said. "You said it was working like a regular clock, but I never saw any batteries with it."
"Maybe they fell out." Tippy said.
"She's right." Desy said. "I never saw a place FOR batteries."
The girls stared at each other for a second.
"I don't know about you gals," Harley said. "but the less time spent thinking about this the better. I want something to eat. Whos coming." She ran down the stairs.
The remaining girls looked at each other. "Me!" They called out together.
