Recap: As we last left off, both Ross and Rachel knew that they still
had deep feelings for each other, but didn't tell anyone. After Rachel
dropped a glass that shattered into many pieces, Ross began to help her
clean it up in the kitchen. Then he kissed her, she hesitated but.. only
for a minute.
Now for the continuation of "What's In a Name?"
************************************************
To both Ross and Rachel, the kiss seemed to last forever. Maybe because
they couldn't believe that they were kissing again, or maybe because it
had been so long since they touched lips. Ross put his hands on Rachel's
face as she slowly began to pull away, and finally opened her eyes. They
just stood there almost lifeless, both kneeling on the ground, pieces of
glass around them, no one moved and there was complete silence. You
could hear them both breathing softly, never had it been so quiet in
that apartment. Not a silence that the viewers have ever witnessed
anyways. Finally, Rachel broke the silence with a soft "Wow" No one said
anything again. Ross then put one of hands on the ground, and yelped out
"OW! Damn glass." He lifted up to see his hand and could see that it was
bleeding. He got up and went to the sink, as Rachel followed. "Here" she
said "Monica taught me this" Rachel took his hand and turned on the cold
water. Then she took his palm and wraped a cloth around it to try and
control the bleeding.
Back down at the coffee house, Chandler, Joey, Monica, and Phoebe were
unusually quiet. It was like they sensed that it was quiet upstairs in
the apartment. "I wonder what's going on" Chandler asked. Joey shruged.
Monica said "Hopefully, this is good news. I would really like to see
those two get back together. For everything that they have put each
other through the last year, god knows that they deserve to actually be
together, and happy." Phoebe nodded and added "They are lobsters. I'm
never giving up my theory."
Rachel had sat Ross down at the couch and handed him some coffee and she
cleaned up the rest of the mess. (She finally found where Monica keeps
the dustpan.) After she was done, she wasn't too sure of what to do, so
she went and took a seat on the chair. Ross looked at her, and she
looked back at him as he said "Rachel, what are we going to do?". She
sighed and took some time to answer with saying "I don't know. Maybe we
should just give each other a day of space and then we can figure out
what we want." Ross thought about what she said and nodded his head.
"Good idea." He slowly began to get up off the couch and said "I guess
I'll see you tomorrow. We both have a lot of thinking to do." Rachel
just answered with "Bye Ross."
Ross had trouble sleeping that night. Work wasn't too much better. He
just sat at his desk trying to get his work done. A huge pile of paper
stood by him, but he could barely get through the first few sheets. It
had been a tough year for him and many thoughts were running through his
head.
Rachel sipped her coffee and tryed to work on her computer. She could
hear Sophie filing in the background and she could see that Rachel was a
little be distraught. "Rachel?" Sophie asked. "Are you ok?" Rachel
smiled and said "I'm ok, just got a lot on my mind."
As Rachel came home that evening, everyone was in the apartment expect
Ross. "Hi guys!" She said as she came in the door. Everyone greeted her,
and she knew that no one knew what was going other than herself and
Ross. Monica was chopping veggies for salad in the kitchen, Phoebe was
by the window fiddling around with her guitar and Joey and Chandler were
watching football on tv. After she had got a quick bite to eat, Rachel
said "I'm going to go for a walk." They all looked at her. "Rach, it
looks like it's going to rain." Phoebe said. Rachel looked out the
window, and she didn't agree "I'll be ok" she said. "See you soon." and
Rachel was out the door.
She made her way down the street. The past year passed through her mind.
The jealousy, the break, the letter. "Most of this is my fault." she
thought to herself and then she felt drops of rain to fall on her. She
was pretty far away from her apartment and just kept on walking. "I
really do love him." She said.
Ross went for a walk and was close to the park as the rain began to
fall. "Great." he thought to himself, but he knew that he had to keep on
walking. "Why did I sleep with that other woman? Why did Rachel had to
get a new job? Why couldn't things stay things like they were before?"
were just some of the many questions that popped in and out of Ross'
head. The rain began to pour harder, running down his face, and his
final thought was "Everything we've been through I still want to be with
that woman!"
Rachel looked at the rain that was pouring on her. It began to fall
harder and harder was she made her way to the park. As she came closer,
she noticed the silohette of a tall man, looking at the water, leaning
against a bar. She couldn't make out who it was, until he turned around.
She thought that it was Ross, but wasn't too sure because the rain was
pouring down so hard.
As he turned around he saw Rachel, and took some steps closer to her.
"Rachel?" he called. She called "Ross? Is that you" and they came closer
to each other "What are you doing out in the rain?" he asked. Rachel
answered "I could ask you that same question." They began to walk
together. Rachel began "Ross, I've been doing some thinking." Ross added
"So have I. Rachel, we've been through a lot, and I think....I think
that..."Rachel interupted him and said "I want to work past everything."
Ross looked at her for awhile and said "You do?" Rachel looked away
sadly. He continued "Because so do I." She looked at him as he took her
hand and said "Rachel, I love you. I always have. Even through the
fights, and through my other dates and I tryed to get over you, but it's
too damn hard and I'm not going to fight it anymore." Rachel faces lit
with smile "I've missed you Ross. I know many of the fights were all my
fight. I'm so stubborn sometimes. But I couldn't stop thinking about
you. I need you. I love you Ross." They both leaned to kiss each other
as the rain poured down on them hard. The water was pouring from their
faces, both with soaked jackets and hair. They didn't care. The kiss
earased all the problems that had been caused. They were on a new slate
and this kiss sealed them for the rest of their lives.
THE END....for now. Or until I get enough time to write something again!
