[Scene: Monica and Rachels. Everyones there.]

PHOEBE: Were all invited to a party my friend from out of towns having at her hotel room.
ROSS: When?
PHOEBE: Saturday night at 11. Ooo, and theres a myth about the hotel too.
RACHEL: What kind of myth??
PHOEBE: If two people are meant to be together, and they both go into the hotel, theyll come out together.
MONICA: Well, then count me out.
ROSS: Why, Mon?
MONICA: I dont want to be by pee boy here when we walk in.
CHANDLER: Okay, now your just being mean.
RACHEL: Monica! Cmon. Itll be fun. I mean, you dont actually believe that stupid myth do you?
MONICA: No...I guess not...but...
PHOEBE: Goodie! So you all are coming?
CHANDLER and JOEY: Yeah.
ROSS(looking at Rachel, who doesnt notice): Yeah...

[Scene: Saturday night. Joey and Chandlers. Ross is there. The guys are getting ready for the party.]

ROSS: Maybe I shouldnt go tonight.
CHANDLER: Why? This is your big chance! You and Rachel are meant to be, so tonight, you will be. Whats not to like about that?
JOEY: Yeah, Ross. Listen to Pee boy.
CHANDLER: HEY! I stepped up! Im a good friend!
JOEY: Yeah, youre right...pee boy [Chandler goes to hit Joey **slow motion action sequence** Joey ducks and rolls, then crouches, looksleft, looks right, then does a pre-school somersault, and then dives into his room and slams the door. Chandler looks at the door, then at Ross.]
ROSS: Yeah...but how can we be together? She wants me to take the blame for everything. She wants me to say that shes perfect, Im not. I, I just cant do that.
CHANDLER: Those are just details. If you are meant to be together, you will be, no matter what.
ROSS: I hope youre right.

[Scene: Rachel and Monicas. Phoebe is there. Monica and Rachel are getting ready.]

PHOEBE: Hurry! I dont want to be late. Where are Joey and Chandler? [She starts to head over to Joey and Chandlers when Chandler opens the door.]
CHANDLER: How do I look?
PHOEBE: Oh, you are so yumm. Wheres Ross? Wheres Joey??[Ross enters, followed by Joey.]
JOEY: You look great, Pheebs.
PHOEBE: I know!
CHANDLER(to Joey): Well, if it isnt Mr. Tumbles!
JOEY: Look whos talkin...Pee boy!!
ROSS: Are Monica and Rach-[Rachel comes out of her room looking incredible.]
ROSS(to Rachel): Oh, wow, you, look...nice.
RACHEL: You look...nice too. [They stare at each other till they are interrupted by Monica who is now ready to go.]
MONICA: Are we late yet?
PHOEBE: Yes, lets go.
CHANDLER: You look great, Mon.
MONICA: Aw, thanks...pee boy. [Chandler gets upset and leaves the apartment.]
[Scene: They all have just gotten to the hotel. The guys take the girls arms to walk them inside. By chance, or fate, Ross takes Rachels, Joey takes Phoebes, and Chandler takes Monicas.]

ROSS: What floor is the party on?
PHOEBE: Um, the 7th. Heres an elevator. [She pushes the button and the door shortly opens.]
GUY: Sorry, you all cant fit.
ROSS: Phoebe, you and Joey go, well take the next one.
PHOEBE: Alright. [Joey and Phoebe get on the elevator, the door closes, it leaves.]
MONICA: We could just take the stairs. [poking Chandler] You could use the work-out.
RACHEL: Im too tired to walk 7 flights of stairs.
MONICA: Fine, me and Chandler will go. Race ya, pee boy!! [Monica takes off for the stairs, Chandler chases her. We see Monica entering the stair case, followed by Chandler. The camera scrolls over to a sign that reads "Stairwell locked at 11 oclock". The camera now scrolls up to the clock that reads "11:05"]

ROSS: So...[the elevator door opens. Its empty.] Here we go! [He holds the door open for her, and she enters the elevator, he follows. The doors shut.]

[Scene: We see Phoebe and Joey in an elevator full of people. The door dings, then opens, and everyone exits. Joey and Phoebe share a look as the door shuts.]

[Split screen. We see Ross and Rachel in an elevator, and Joey and Phoebe in an elevator. The power suddenly fails, both elevators go dark and stop.]

[Scene: Ross and Rachels elevator. The lights come back on and we see Rachel in Ross arms.]

RACHEL: Oh, Im sorry...what happened?
ROSS: Uh, I, I dont know. I hope Joey and Phoebe are okay.

[Scene: Joey and Phoebes elevator. The lights come on and we see Joey in Phoebes arms.]

JOEY: Sorry.
PHOEBE: Yeah, uh huh.
JOEY: What happened?
PHOEBE: Ooo! Maybe this is to get Rachel and Ross together! Ya know the myth? Oh, that is so romantic.
JOEY: Yeah, thats great, but couldnt the hotel have let us off first??

[Scene: The stairwell. We see Chandler and Monica reach the 7th floor door.]

MONICA: Beat you!
CHANDLER: Did not!! You nearly killed me!
MONICA: Pee boys a loser, Pee boys a loser! [Chandler goes to open the door and finds it locked.]
CHANDLER: Uh oh.
MONICA: What?
CHANDLER: The door, its locked.
MONICA: What?! It cant be. [Tries the door.] Well, well just have to try another floor.

[Scene: Phoebe and Joey.]

JOEY: So I wonder whats happening with Ross and Rachel.
PHOEBE: I dont know...

[Scene: Ross and Rachel. ]

RACHEL: Did you hit the button?
ROSS: I hit the button, for the ten thousandth time!!
RACHEL: You sure? [She pushes the button.]
ROSS: Uh!!
RACHEL: Look, Im sorry Ross! I just really dont want to be stuck with you screaming at me for longer than absolutely necessary!
ROSS: WHOS SCREAMING??!!
RACHEL: God, Ross. I dont what I ever saw in you.
ROSS: Wait, now just wait. Thats not fair-
RACHEL: Fair?! You wanna talk about fair?!
ROSS: Uh oh...
RACHEL: Okay, Ross. Lets talk about fair. Is, um, is fair you going off and sleeping with that, that girl from the coffee house?? Uh, uh, is fair me having hear about it from Gunther?! Oh, and is fair me pouring my heart out into a letter that you fall asleep reading?! Tell me, Ross! What is fair!?!?!
ROSS: Okay, just one little tiny thing....[We see it echoing throughout the hotel.] WE WERE ON A BREAK!!!!!!!!!

[Scene: Phoebe and Joey.]
PHOEBE: Oh, oh no. That cant be good.
JOEY: I hope this hotel knows what its doing.
(...1 hour later...)
JOEY: Pheebs, remember when me and Ursula were goin out?
PHOEBE: Ursula who?
JOEY: Im sorry. I was just remembering how you came in her place to dump me. That was really nice of you.
PHOEBE: Well, anything for a friend.
JOEY: And the kiss...oh, wow Phoebe.
PHOEBE: [happy with herself.] I know.
JOEY: Why havent we ever...ya know...gone out? I think wed be good together...
PHOEBE: Well, yeah, but, well, no.
JOEY: But why?
PHOEBE: I dont know. I mean youre Joey. I mean, what we have now is great, and I would never want to lose that. Ya know?
JOEY: Yeah, but, well. Ross and Rachel were just friends like us, then they were going out and everything was good.
PHOEBE: Yeah, but they broke up, and now...well, they are not good.
JOEY: Yeah...but, but were not them. Cmon Pheebs.[Joey and Phoebe share a kiss.] Well?
PHOEBE: I, I-[He kisses her again.] Oh, okay! [They start kissing again.]

[Scene: Chandler and Monica.]

MONICA: What are we going to do?
CHANDLER: I think were going to be here a while...
MONICA: Great! Oh, maybe the others will notice were not there and come looking. Yeah, yeah, thats it! We dont have anything to worry about!! [Chandler doesnt look convinced.] Were not getting out of here are we? [Chandler smiles and shakes his head.]

[Scene: Ross and Rachel. Theyre still fighting.]

RACHEL: Okay, stop! Just stop!!
ROSS: What?
RACHEL: Okay, were obviously going to be here a while, I think it would help if we could stop fighting till we get out of here. Can we just talk about something else please?
ROSS: Yeah, your right. Im sorry.
RACHEL: Yeah, me too.
(...an hour later...)
ROSS: Remember when I had just found out you were over me?
RACHEL(laughing): God, yes! That was soo awful!
ROSS: I dont think so. R RACHEL: Yeah..
ROSS: This is really nice.
RACHEL: Yeah, it is.
ROSS: Remember how we used to...[Ross goes to kiss Rachel.]
RACHEL: Dont, Ross-[He kisses her, when he stops he looks her in the face, and they kiss again.]

[Scene: Chandler and Monica.]

CHANDLER: I wonder whats going on at the party.
MONICA: I dont know. Oh! Ya know what? What if they are together right now? Ya know, the whole myth thing. That would be so great.
CHANDLER: Yeah..
MONICA: Man, why did Ross have to sleep with that girl?!
CHANDLER: They were on a break! [Monica gives him a look] Okay, okay, well how about the whole letter thing. huh? I mean, what was that?!
MONICA: It was her telling him her feelings!
CHANDLER: 8 pages?!
MONICA: You just-ya know, can we please talk about something else?
CHANDLER: Yeah, Im sorry.
MONICA: Me too.

[Scene: Ross and Rachel.]

RACHEL: Ross, that kiss didnt change anything.
ROSS: No? How about this? [Goes to kiss her again.]
RACHEL: Ross, stop! Okay, we need to talk.
ROSS: Okay, Im sorry. I just-we always end up fighting. I hate it when we fight.
RACHEL: Yeah, so do I, but, well we cant just kiss and make-up.
ROSS: I know, but-
RACHEL: Ross, theres things that arent going to go away.
ROSS: Okay. I admit I was a jerk, okay? I was wrong. I shouldnt have gone home with that girl from the coffee house, and I shouldnt have fallen asleep reading your letter. But, Rach, you know we were meant to be dont you? And we will be. If not now, later. We will be together, and theres nothing you can do about it. Then were going to wish we had had this time together instead of constantly being at each others throats. Oh, cant you see this is right?
RACHEL: Oh, Ross...[They kiss.]

[Scene: Joey and Phoebe.]

PHOEBE: Its quiet. That must be good.
JOEY: I hope those two get back together.
PHOEBE: Yeah. Hey, do you think that maybe we are supposed to be together too? And thats why were trapped in here. I mean, if it were just normal circumstances, wouldnt someone have gotten us out by now?
[Joey and Phoebe look at eachother.]
JOEY and Phoebe: Nah!

[Scene: Monica and Chandler.]

CHANDLER: Tell me again why you wont go out with me?
MONICA: Oh, not this again!
CHANDLER: I mean, I think wed be good together...
MONICA: Chandler, youre...Chandler. And I do love you, but, I just dont think wed be good as an us. You understand that, right?
CHANDLER: Yeah...well I think youre wrong. [He kisses her.]
MONICA: Okay, I can admit when Im wrong. [They kiss again.]
CHANDLER: So can we try us?
MONICA(smiling): Okay, but you have to kiss me like that again.
CHANDLER: Alright! [They start kissing again.]

[Scene: Ross and Rachel.]

ROSS: So, are we going to try again?
RACHEL: Yeah, we have alot of talking to do...but well make this work.
ROSS: Good. [As he kisses her the elevator starts back up.] Oh! Looks like were finally going to get out of here.
RACHEL: Im glad, but Im in no hurry.[she kisses him.]
ROSS: I missed you, Rach.
RACHEL: I love you.
ROSS: Oh, Rach. I love you so much. [They kiss again.]

[Scene: Monica and Chandler:]

MONICA: Now what?
CHANDLER: Well, see-[We see someone unlocking the door to the stairwell.]
MONICA: Yea!
PERSON: Oh, what are you two doing here?
CHANDLER(with his arm around Monica): We got locked in last night.
PERSON: Oh, Im so sorry! We had our elevators stop last night too.
MONICA(to Chandler): You dont think?
CHANDLER and MONICA: Nah!

[Scene: The lobby of the hotel. Everyones there. Ross has his arm around Rachel. Joey has his arm around Phoebe. Chandler has his arm around Monica.]

MONICA(to Ross and Rachel): So you guys are...?
ROSS(gazing at Rachel): Yeah. Were going to make things work.
RACHEL: Even if it takes all our lives.
ROSS: I wouldnt mind that. [He kisses her.] So whats with you and Chandler?
CHANDLER: She loves me, cant live without me.
MONICA: Come here you...[they kiss.]
CHANDLER(to Joey and Phoebe): What about you guys? [Joey and Phoebe kiss.] Okay, understood! [Theyre all start to walk out of the hotel.]
PHOEBE: That was the best party ever!
JOEY(smiling): Yeah.
MONICA: Hey, you guys dont think that myth had anything to do with...ya know, do you? [Everyone looks at each other.]
EVERYONE: Nah!
