Caroline and the weird place
A CITC/ Star Trek Deep Space Nine Tale

Part one

The characters of Odo, Kira and all the rest on DS9, and Caroline and Richard Do NOT belong to me. If they were mine, I'd be very very rich right now. :)

Present time

Caroline yawned as she dipped a fresh tea bag into her cup of boiling hot water. Richard and she were working late again, burning the midnight oil on a surprise order of greeting cards Del got for his company Eagle Greeting cards. But this was no ordinary order, this one was from the big daddy of them all, Hallmark!
Caroline brought her cup over to the large drawing table she shared with Richard.
"How many cards do we have left?" Caroline asked while sitting down.
"Three. But I swear to god, sitting here at this ungodly hour, that there is no god." Richard said in his usual droll manner.
"I thought there was two?" Caroline said looking through papers. "There was but as the old saying goes, your cat ate it."
Caroline couldn't help but chuckle at the comment about her cat. She stirred her tea bag around in her cup. "Would you like some?" she asked him. "It'll soothe your nerves."
"I don't need tea I need a nice soft pillow on that nice distergrating mattress I have." He remarked. He sighed. "I guess I need a cup more than I know."
"It must be hard since Julia left you for Donald Trump." Caroline said as she made the second cup of tea.
"I'll be alright." Richard said as he took the cup. "Thanks." Caroline looked at the tea bag package. "Hmm. Seems like this tea is three days over its expiration date."
Richard did a spit take. "What?"
Caroline started to wobble in her chair. "I feel a little woozy."
Richard put his hand up near his head. "Me too."
Caroline stood and reached out for the desk. She fell toward the ground and made a large thump noise. Richard soon collapsed near her. Caroline moaned as the lights swirled around making a pattern then it all went black.

Major Kira rode the turbolift down to the bridge area of Deep Space Nine. She was was getting ready for her shift. She was just relieving a lieutenant at her post when she heard her name being called.
"Major Kira." The voice said. She turned around to find that it belonged to constable Odo, the long arm of the law on the station. He was holding a small computer pad in front of her.
"Morning Odo." Kira said accepting the pad. "What is this?"
"Quark has a small fleet of even smaller boxes in cargo hold five." Odo said. "He wants to bring them into his bar but I told him no."
"Why is that?"
"Last month Quark smuggled a load of kemosite in a with his order of bloodwine for Dax and Worfs wedding. I want to fully inspect the load before it gets even an inch near that bar."
"Of course Quark hates your guts right now."
"I don't really care. I'm doing my job." He paused. "I have no guts as you call them." Odo was a changeling, and his physiology was unlike most human species.
"I'll come with you." Kira turned and looked over her shoulder "Dax, will you cover the bridge till I return with Odo?"
"Will do." Jadzia Dax, resident Trill answered.
Odo and Kira got together on the turbolift. Kira once again looked at the order form that was on the pad. "It says these two packages are six by five. You consider that small?"
"Small compared to the dom jot table he ordered last month." Odo grunted to himself. "He never got that so I see no reason why this new order is gonna be any surprise. I doubt he'll get this one either"
"Ah." Kira said as they disembarked the turbo lift. Kira followed the always faster Odo as closely as she could. "Slow down, its not gonna get up and walk away, is it?"
"You never know with Quark." Odo said.
Kira nodded and managed to catch up with him as they reached the cargo hold. The two packages were painfully obvious once they saw them. They were laid down horizontal in a corner. Kira and Odo approached the package. It seemed to be a large incubator of some type, perhaps from the late 20th century. Kira wiped the frost off the window near the head of the box. She stood back very fast once she realized what she saw.
"Odo, there are people here." Kira said. "I doubt very much Quark ordered this."
"You're right. These are not exactly cocktail napkins." Odo agreed as they looked over the incubators.
