Doctor Bashirs Log

I escorted Caroline and Richard to their rooms which I advised them to take a short nap in. Richard looked like he had other plans as he went back into Carolines room after I had left her.

Caroline turned when she heard the door buzzer.
"I'm gonna have to get used to that." Caroline said to herself. "Come in!"
Richard went into the room. "Hi Caroline. Nice place."
"It should be, it's an exact copy of your room." Caroline commented. "I thought you would be painting."
"Well, if I wanted to paint I would have to arrange for stuff that won't be here for weeks. I decided to kill a little time in your room." Richard said coming up to her.
"Make yourself at home." Caroline said. "But I get the feeling you are not here for a social call."
"I'm not." Richard said. "I have to ask your something very important." Richard pointed at a nearby seat. "I'd like for you to sit down. It'll make this a lot easier."
"Are you leaving Deep Space Nine?" Caroline asked.
"No." Richard said. He sat next to her then changed his mind and kneeled. "I want you to consider marrying me."
"What?"
"I've known how you felt about me for ages and I'm sure you know I feel the same way."
"I don't know." Caroline stood up. "I have to think this over."
"Are you waiting for something better to come along?" Richard said. "This is a genuine plea of love. Eternal love. Sincere Amore'" Richard stood. "Don't answer me now."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"No. IF you love me as much as I know you love me, please meet me at holosuite four at quarks in a hour. If you are not there when that hour is up, cause thats as much time as Quark is allowing me, I know your answer is no."
"Ok." Caroline said calmly.
"I'll hopefully see you soon." Richard said as he left. Caroline watched as Richard left the room. She sat down and sighed.

Odo and Kira were watching Richard take the lift to the promenade.
"I wonder what he is up to." Kira asked walking to the rail and looking down.
"Hmm." Odo said not taking his eyes off Kira. "Kira what would you say if I told you I was completely in love with you?"
Kira turned to him. "I'd say you were spending too much time in the holosuite district."
"What if I said it was true? That I was in love with you."
"Well I don't know." Kira said. "What if I told you I had the same feelings for you?"
"I'd like that." Odo said looking into her eyes. "And lets just say I invited you to my favorite spot on the station to just talk. Would you go with me?"
"Yes, Odo." Kira said starting to go with him. "It isnt all gonna be all talk is it?"
"Not if I can help it." Odo said as he guided Kira onto the turbolift.
"You won't have to." Kira said and leaned in to kiss Odo as the doors to the turbo lift closed.

It was an hour later. Richard was in his holosuite. He had Quark set up the holosuite to look like a cheesy Las Vegas wedding place. Richard well knew that if Caroline agreed to marry him it would purely on whim. Richard paid Quark extra latinum to be his best man and invited Leeta the Dom Jot girl to be a matron of honor. Richard gave them a brief overview of marriage. Quark didn't much care. He was after the profit and if he had to witness the marriage of two hewmons, well thats what he was prepared to do.
Richard paced. He was getting impatient and he didnt feel like paying off the ferengi again. As he was giving up the door opened.
It was Caroline. The holosuite turned her dowdy clothes into a beautiful wedding outfit.
"Richard I will marry you." Caroline said. "After all, nothing better is gonna come along, right?"
"Yeah." Richard said. They stood before Captain Sisko.
"Dearly beloved..." Sisko said.
"Let's skip it!" Quark said. "I'm losing profit here."
"Ok. The short version." Sisko said while giving Quark a look.
"Do you Richard?"
"Yes." Richard said.
"And do you Caroline." Sisko said.
"I do!"
"By the power invested in me by Starfleet I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride." Richard took his cue and swept her off her feet and kissed her. He then lifted her and carried her out the door among cheers of people on the promenade. Caroline waved to some people.
She turned to Richard. "What does the future have in store for us?" She asked him.
"We'll have to wait and see. But we'll see it together." Richard promised as they arrived at their room.
"Together." Caroline said as they entered their room and prepared for a life among the stars.
