Chart Commentary... The current Queen of Pop, Janet Jackson, manages yet another week at #1 with her latest, "All For You", as the album of the same name sells more than 600,000 copies to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. This is more than both first week sales of 1993's "janet." and 1997's "The Velvet Rope" combined!. Things have never looked better for Miss Jackson.
Destiny's Child has a new album out in stores this week and although it is expected to debut at #1 with incredible numbers, I must say I was somewhat dissapointed with it. There aren't many stand out tracks and this will definately not help its sales in the long run. The ones I liked the best are "Independent Women Part I", "Survivor" and "Emotion". I also like the funkiness of "Bootylicious", the next single, but I can't seem to get past the awful lryics.
This week's greatest gainer is "Lady Marmalade" by Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya & Pink. The track jumps 11-6 and is the greatest gainer for the fourth week in a row. "Lady Marmalade" is Christina's sixth top 10 hit, Lil' Kim's second, Mya's third and Pink's fourth.
New entries this week include Aaliyah's "We Need A Resolution" f/ Timbaland, the first single from her forthcoming new album, Backstreet Boys' "More Than That" and Eve's "Let Me Blow Your Mind" f/ Gwen Stefani.
Coming Up... Shaggy- "Freaky Girl", Mandy Moore- "In My Pocket", Aerosmith- "Fly Away From Here", BBMak- "Ghost Of You And Me", Thalía- "It's My Party" & Evan & Jaron- "From My Head To My Heart".
