PHOTO FINISH... The three top singles of the week are so close in over-all points that any of them could have been no.1 this week. The Backstreet Boys manage to hold for a third consecutive week at no. 1 with Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez very very close behind. We'll have to wait and see if the boys can hold yet another week on top to make it four.
YEAH BABY!... Madonna scores her fifth top 10 single this week as "Beautiful Stranger" easily climbs up to no. 9. Madonna's first chart entry (this chart was created in 1997) was "Frozen" which made it all the way to no. 2, then came "Ray Of Light", her only no. 1 hit so far on this chart, then "The Power Of Good-Bye" stalled at no. 7 and just recently, "Nothing Really Matters" made no. 9. Madonna's always been one of my favorite artists, so many of her older hits would had most likely done well on this chart if it had existed.
TIME TO GROW... Lauryn Hill's fourth release from her current "The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill" album makes a not so impressive debut at no. 40 this week. This song has been out to radio for a while but not until now it makes its appearance on the top 40. I'm not so thrilled about this song but maybe it'll grow on me like "Ex-Factor" did. On the other hand, a song that will definately be one of Garbage's biggest hits is "When I Grow Up". The fourth release from "Version 2.0" makes its debut at no. 38 and will try to best "Push It"'s no. 4 peak.
