MOVE OVER TEENS!... This week Madonna takes over the top spot with her latest smash, "Beautiful Stranger". Madonna is no stranger to the top though, she had a 2 week run at no. 1 last year with "Ray Of Light". And by looking at the chart, I'd say this song has a pretty good chance on passing the 2 week mark to become her biggest hit here to date. The only strong competition coming up soon is TLC's "Unpretty", but it may take the girls at least 3 or 4 weeks until they give Madonna some trouble. The lead is pretty big for the top 3 titles on the chart.
WEAK COMPETITION... Somehow I've felt like I'm still stuck listening to some older titles as the weeks go by. Take a look at Britney Spears, "...Baby One More Time" is still charting after 33 weeks. The same goes for Cher's "Believe", Busta Rhymes' f/ Janet "What's It Gonna Be?!" and Sugar Ray's "Every Morning". TLC's "No Scrubs" is still in the top 20 after 21 weeks!. Is it because they're very good songs? Or is it just because there ar eno new good songs that appeal to me? Many songs are definately hanging in the top 40 longer than they used to... maybe this will change soon. Who knows?
NOT GIVING UP... Speaking of older titles, Savage Garden's "The Animal Song" re-bullets this week after almost dropping out last week. It lands at no. 34 on it's 20th week on the chart.
COMING UP... Shania Twain's "You've Got A Way ", Britney Spear's "(You Drive Me) Crazy", Ricky Martin's "She's All I Ever Had", K-Ci & Jojo's "Tell Me It's Real" & Sheryl Crow's "Sweet Child O' Mine".
