Top 5 dejá-vu?...Janet Jackson's "Someone To Call My Lover" holds at #1 for a fourth week in a row, with the rest of the top 5 unchanged as well. The small amount of action in the top 10 comes from newcommers Blu Cantrell and Alicia Keys, which advance up three spots each to #7 and #8, respectively; while Missy Elliott scores her second top 10 hit of the year as "One Minute Man" advances up three to #10. Next week though, the top spot is up for grabs. The question is: will it be Janet or J.Lo?.
More than a family affair... This week's greatest gainer is Mary J. Blige's "Family Affair". The lead single from the upcoming "No More Drama" album bounces up eleven spots to #28. So far, so good...
New entries...Mariah Carey's last single, "Loverboy", didn't quite live up to her usual chart success standards (it peaked at #9); but let's face it, it isn't her best work either. But as "Loverboy" drops out of the top 10, Virgin Records isn't wasting any time releasing a follow-up. "Never Too Far" makes its entry this week at #35, thus earning the highest debut of the week honor. This song is one of those classic Mariah ballads we're used to hear from her and should perform better than its predecessor. U2 also debuts this week at #38 with "Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of", the fourth single from their latest album.
Coming Up... Destiny's Child- "Emotion", Samantha Mumba- "Don't Need You To (Tell Me I'm Pretty)", *N Sync- "Gone", Jessica Simpson- "A Little Bit", Afroman- "Because I Got High" & Aaliyah- "Rock The Boat".
