Chart Commentary...
The battlefield is shaping up... While Alicia Keys sits comfortably at #1 for a second week in a row, things are starting to shape up nicely in the rest of the top 20. There is an incredible number of new releases climbing the chart making older titles drop like rocks. The pack is lead by Nelly Furtado and Enrique Iglesias, which are both neck-by-neck in the race for #1. Further down, there is Enya, Britney Spears, Ginuwine, Usher, Destiny's Child, Michelle Branch, Lenny Kravitz and Backstreet Boys, all heading towards the upper portion of the chart. The next few months should be interesting...
"Hero"-es and "Slave"-s... This week's greatest gainer is "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias. The track lands at #5 in only its fifth week on the chart and is definately shaping up to be one of the season's biggest hits. Definately a much better comeback than Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" last year. Britney also continues to climb the chart with "I'm A Slave 4 U" and is the week's second greatest gainer. I have to say the video is hot!. Very nice comeback as well.
New entries... This week's highest new entry is Bubba Sparxxx' "Ugly", which lands at #32, followed closely by Latin superstar Shakira whose first English-language single, "Whenever, Wherever", lands at #33. And lastly, there is Jewel. "Standing Still" debuts at #36 and is the first single from her forthcoming album "This Way" due out in November.
