Hi! For those of you who thought this site was "dead," well, it was for awhile (as you can tell in the difference in dates between this post and the one below). Because of changes in my life's priorities, I had pretty much gotten away from managing the site. However, because Sandra's career has pretty much "blown up" in recent years, I felt it was time to get back in the "saddle". Therefore, I will try to keep the site current (which means that I have a lot of catching up to do), although I will not make any promises regarding that. This may seem contradictory, but I will do the best I can.
By the way, I want to thank you for supporting the site. It really means a lot to me.

Another update on "Dancing at the Blue Iguana":
Today on Christmas, we, the fans of Sandra Oh, have received a generous gift: the release of the movie "Dancing at the Blue Iguana" on video and DVD. At first, I thought the release was scheduled for tomorrow, but while perusing a local video rental store, I saw, to my surprise, both the DVD and VHS versions of the movie. So for those of us who don't live in either New York or Los Angeles, this is our first opportunity to see what many critics have said is a good movie.
By the way, if you get the DVD, you can go into the DVD's Special Features menu and turn on the "Production Commentary" feature, and the cast, including Sandra, will comment on the movie as its being played. Normally I find this feature to be annoying, however, because the entire script was improvised by the actors, it was interesting to listen to how the cast was able to carry out their roles. Needless to say, the cast is highly skilled, for there aren't many actors who can perform without a script. Kudos to them!
Also, I've been informed that Sandra has recently starred in a short film titled Date Squad. Its about a group of folks who help geeky people suceed on dates. It's really funny.
Happy Holidays!

An update on "Dancing at the Blue Iguana":
During an interview on The Howard Stern Show, Daryl Hannah, one of the stars of the movie, said that the movie will be released in only New York and Los Angeles (bummer!). However, if the movie does well in those venues, it could be distributed nationwide, just like they did with "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." So, New York and L.A., the fate of this movie is up you. If you don't support it, the rest of us will never get to see it.
Also, speaking of movies, I have added sound clips (in the form of MP3 files) to the "Double Happiness" portion of this site's Images webpage. These sound files were taken from scenes in the movie. My favorite of these is the one titled Weight of the World, where Sandra's character expresses her goals in life, which is quite interseting.
Other additions to the site is a second page in the "Awards" portion of the Images webpage. The second page is devoted to images taken at the 2000 Ammy Awards (where, unfortunately, Sandra didn't win). Shortly, I will add additional sites to the Links section of this site, including for actor Don McKellar, who Sandra co-starred with in the movie "Last Night."
Finally, Sandra will be appearing in the TV movie "Cagney & Lacey III: The View Through The Glass Ceiling," which will air on October 18, 2001 on the Lifetime Movie Network at both 1:15 AM and 2:45 PM, Eastern Time.

After an absence of almost a year, I'm back with the latest on Sandra. Below are the following:
The movie "Dancing at the Blue Iguana" is scheduled to be released October 19, 2001. Because it is being released by Lions Gate Films, the movie will probably be released in a small number of theaters. The movie is about the lives of striptease dancers. Sandra's character is a stripper who aspires to be a poet. So far, the reviews have been pretty good and the film's release is highly anticipated, especially by fans such as me. (Thanks to Chris Switzer for e-mailing this news to me)
Speaking of films, Sandra is currently starring in the movie "The Princess Diaries." She plays a vice principal at the "princess'" school.
I recently rented the DVD "Waking the Dead," where Sandra plays a former prostitute/masseuse. Although Sandra's role in the actual movie is small, the DVD has a deleted scene titled "Saving Kim" named after and featuring Sandra's character. It's a pretty good scene that I believe should have been included in the movie. I guess DVD technology is good for something. ;-)
On October 9, 2000, Sandra attended aMedia's Ammy Awards, given to Asian and Asian-Americans for outstanding performances in film and television. During this event, Sandra gave an RealVideo interview to Susan Chang and David Ono (anchor at KABC), in which she talks about the opportunities afforded to her because of her role on Arli$$
On October 5, 2000, I received the following message via e-mail:
Hi!! I love your Sandra Oh webpage!! I saw "Double Happiness" in the theatres and loved it -- and I just caught it again on IFC the other night.
I thought you should know that Sandra Oh just finished shooting "Further Tales of the City" for Showtime. She has a fabulous part -- the scheming newscaster Bambi Kanetaka, who gets kidnapped by Mrs. Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis) and the whole gang at Barbary Lane.
I'm a huge "Tales of the City" fan (I don't know if you're familiar with this series or not), but for months we've been speculating on the bulletin board about who would play Bambi Kanetaka from the books. To verify the production, go to www.talesofthecity.com TARGET="toc" and on the first screen you reach (its black) hit The Latest Word. Just thought you should know -- I'm so glad such a fabulous actress is filling the shoes of one of my favorite characters.
Please keep my email address private if you post this!!
Best wishes,
Hans Pedersen

Yesterday, while surfing the Net, I came across a portion of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporartion's web site that features a RealVideo interview with Sandra. Sandra had a lot to say about her career and the acting profession as a whole. The interview was conducted last year (in May).

Yesterday, I received an e-mail from Michael Colford of the Chlotrudis Awards saying that Sandra was nominated for Best Actress for her role in the film Last Night. According to the Web site, The Chlotrudis Awards are "a nonprofit organization that celebrates movies that are often overlooked by the general public. The Chlotrudis Awards honor movies that are nominated by a select group of 30 individuals. Movies honored tend to be independent films, or films that are well made, original, challenging, complex or critically acclaimed, but often commercially unsuccessful. The Chlotrudis Awards also seek to assist up and coming filmmakers in their efforts to create similar films." I believe this group is based in Boston (given the fact the awards ceremony is being hosted at Harvard).
Again, another testimony to Sandra's talent!

Hi folks,
I just wanted to let you know that I'm still alive, in case you're wondering why I haven't been updating the site lately. Recently, I had to give up my personal access to the Internet, so along with my responsibilities to school (where the past semester was really difficult) and work, tending to the web site has been difficult. In the future, I'll try to do better.
Anyway, for my last entry in this millennium, I want to comment (or rather, review) on the movie Guinevere. The movie is about an old photographer who likes to seduce young girls so he can photograph as well as mentor them in the fine arts. The plot centers around his relationship with one of his "Guineveres," played by Sarah Polley. Sandra is also one of the photographer's former lovers. Although Sandra isn't one of the main players, her character's sass and humor ala Rita Woo is very apparent in this movie. The movie itself wasn't very exciting, but the climax was nice. Among others who were in the movie were Gedde Watanabe and Jasmine Guy, who also played one of the "Guinevere" lovers, proving that this guy has great taste in women without giving regard to race/color. Overall, the movie is pretty interesting. In fact, even though the movie is fictional, the story is very similar to the life of Edward Weston, an early 20th century photographer who also had a habit of seducing young women for purposes similar to the movie's protagonist.
If I had to rate this movie on a five-star scale, I would give it 3 1/2 stars, only because Sandra was so sexy in it.
Well folks, the fourth season (Summer 1999) of Arliss is now airing on HBO, and Sandra is looking better than ever. Arliss is now being shown on Sundays at 9:30 P.M. EDT, with replays on Wednesdays at 8:00 P.M. EDT and on Friday nights/Saturday mornings (depending on what time zone you live in) at 12:00 A.M. Also, look for the article on Sandra that will appear later this month (June) in TV Guide.
On November 10, 1998, I received the following via e-mail:
Sandra Oh in Diana Son's STOP KISS, Nov. 17 - Dec. 20, Shiva Theater at The Public Theater, New York. Directed by Jo Bonney. Callie and Sara have their first kiss in a West Village park, culminating an attraction neither of them expected. When the kiss leads to an act of violence, it causes a public reaction neither of them is ready for. World premiere. Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons/Amblin-Dreamworks. Staged reading at Playwrights Horizons (1997), the Mark Taper Forum (1998), the Public Theater (1998) and developed at Playlabs in Minneapolis (1998).

At the 17th Annual Vancouver International Film Festival (September 25 - October 11, 1998), Sandra won both the Women in Film and the Video Vancouver Artistic Merit Awards for role as Sandra (not a self-portrayal) in "Last Night," a film centering around a group of diverse people coping with the impending end of the world. This movie isn't anything like "Armageddon" or other action flicks based on a similar theme; it's more serious in a thespian sense.
On October 11, 1998, I received the following via e-mail:
Hello! I found your page and wanted to give you an update on her activities. She has just completed the world premiere production of "DOGEATERS," an adaptation of Jessica Hagedorn's novel about Rio (Sandra's character) in the Phillipines in 1959 and 1981-82. It ran at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, California, from September 8-October 11, 1998. Under the direction of Michael Grief (director of RENT, the upcoming "Bright Lights, Big City"), the play was an extraordinary piece of theatre which has been requested by several regional theatres around the country.
Sandra will be next performing at the Public (I don't know where that is) in Diana Son's "Stop Kiss." For more information about Dogeaters, go to the website: http://www.lajollaplayhouse.com.
Keep up the good work on your page!

On November 17, 1997, at the CableAce Awards, Sandra won the award for Best Actress In A Comedy Series, beating out the likes of Janeane Garofalo (Larry Sanders) and Tracey Ullman (Tracey Takes On...). Unfortunately, Sandra's co-star, Robert Wuhl, didn't fare as well, for the winner in the Best Actor In A Comedy Series went to Kel Mitchell of Nickelodeon's Kenan and Kel.
