A leading lady of stage and screen, Sandra Oh is probably one of the funniest actresses you might not have heard of. She is funny because of her charm and wit, blended into her vivacious demeanor. Which is not to say that Sandra, who studied at the National Theatre School in Montreal, isn't a talented and accomplished actress in her own right. In 1994, Sandra won the FIPA d'Or for Best Actress at Cannes, France for her role in the movie "The Diary of Evelyn Lau." In addition, in 1993, she has also starred in the film "Double Happiness," an independent film written and directed by Mina Shum. It is about an aspiring Chinese-Canadian actress torn between her family and her white lover (for the curious, Sandra is originally from Nepean, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Korean immigrants). For this she won the Genie award, Canada's equivalent of the Oscar, for Best Actress. Currently, Sandra is starring in the HBO sitcom "Arliss" (or "Arli$$"). "Arliss" is about the shenanigans of a scheming sports agent where Sandra, in the role of "Rita Woo," plays his wise-cracking secretary (for which she won a CableACE award for Best Actress in A Comedy). Currently, I am unaware of any other projects she may be involved in, but if I hear of any, I'll post it here. I hope that her career progresses, for I believe she has the potential to become one of the funniest actresses of all time.
