Joe Bob's Rec Room is the place for Monstervision fans to come and chat online. The number of people that chat each Saturday varies depending on the movies and how good they are. There can be as few as 10 people or as many as 60! There are quite a few of us regulars that have been doing this for years, but of course we always welcome newbies.   Need more detailed instructions? Here's how:

  • First, you need some sort of chat software. There are several good ones, but my absolute favorite is mIRC. It is shareware so you can give it a whirl for free!
  • First download the software and install it to your hard drive. Start the program and then you will need to enter the server information. The server is the computer that the chat room actually resides in, so you need to tell your computer where to go.
  • Now if you're using mIRC, the box to enter all this stuff should come up automatically when it starts, or go under 'FILE' and then select 'OPTIONS' to take you there. Hit the 'ADD' button, for 'IRC SERVER' type in: atlanta.ga.us.infinity-irc.org and for 'PORT' type in: 6667. The 'DESCRIPTION' can be anything you want - it's only for making a nickname that you can remember. Leave 'GROUP' and 'PASSWORD' blank.
  • Now it will ask you to enter your name, your email, and then a nickname. All of this information will be available to others in the room, so keep in mind what you want others to know. Then just hit the 'OK' button.
  • Now each server holds many many chat rooms, so the next box that pops up will ask you what "channel" (which means chat room) you want to join. You will have to add the Rec Room to the list before going there. Don't worry, it's simple! It will have a box saying "Enter name of channel to join." Type in: 'joe_bobs_rec_room' and hit 'ADD'.
  • Now all you have to do is find 'joe_bobs_rec_room' in the list of rooms, click on it, and hit the 'JOIN' button. And you're there!

  If this sounds like a lot, it's really not too complicated, and you won't have to enter the information again. So drop on by already! We'd *love* to meet you!
