Ana was born and raised in a three story row house on Capital Hill in Washington DC with her single brother. She attended a large private co-ed highschool and while taking music lessons after school became good friends with Amy Carter (Jimmy Carter's daughter). Ana has fond memories of visiting the White House and even Camp David. Following High school she attended Northwestern University. At one point in her college years she persued a career in voice, even operatic singing. The evidence of these years of training are evident in many of the charictures that Ana plays. Such as Cinder Calhune and Celine Dion. Following college Ana became a member of the LA based improv group "The Groundlings". From this same group many of the past and present SNL cast members have originated; such as Laraine Newman, Phil Hartman, Jon Lovitz Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, and Cheri Oteri.

Ana is returning to the cast of "Saturday Night Live" for her third season in September. During her first two seasons on "SNL," Ana portrayed such characters as: Margaret Joe, co-host of the fictional "Delicious Dish" show on National Public Radio; Bobbi, the music teacher who sings pseudo-soul medleys with her husband (Will Ferrell); Kincaid, a take-off on MTV's Kennedy; and Janet Blaum, a lady who tries to insult her employers, with little success. One of her more popular recurring charecters in Cinder Calhune, a self proclaimed "weaver of folk yarns" (sort of a take off of the folk music scene. Her impressions include Elizabeth Dole, Mia Farrow, Liz Smith, Martha Stewart, Barbara Streisand, both Ginger and Posh spice, and she once didHilary Clinton). Ana has also played in a few TV shows including "Seinfeld", "Party of Five", "NYPD Blue", and "Law & Order" and has appeared as a guest on Conan Obrian.
