Vehicle mode: Very impressive. With the trailer attached, he looks quite large. The color cheme is very nice. I love the way the red on his hood sort of fades into the black. The wheels are plastic, but that's not too important. On top of his trailer, he has his disc shooter, which can be aimed 360 degrees. I just love vehicle-mounted weapons, and this one looks is totally inconspicuous. One feature that really takes the cake is the light-up headlights, which add a nice spark of realism.
Transformation: Pretty simple all around. Pull out the legs, pull down the arms, flip out the head and you have the robot mode. The trailer is even simpler. You just open the front, press a button, and the thing folds out for you. Then you just pick up the spilled discs from the disc shooter (they always fall out during transformation) and rearrange the weapons and you're done.
Robot/ Battle Station mode: Wonderfully poseable robot form. He's as poseable as a Cyberjet or Laser Rod with one exception: his shoulders don't go all the way up because of the wires for the lights. You can get them up, but it's difficult and you feel like you'll tear up those wires if you push it. The face and body all look very Prime-ish. Except for the colors of the body, he almost looks more like the cartoon Prime than the original toy! The battle station is nice. It would be more accurate to call it a weapons station.
Weapons: Yes, lots please. Op has weapons up the kazootie. A rapid-fire
rocket launcher, disc shooter, air compressed rocket, light-up sword, light-up
blaster-- he's incredible! By placing the huge sword or blaster in his
right hand and pressing a button, you get a great glow effect like on the
Laser Rods. The disc shooter is pretty nice. Each of the five discs has
the G2 Autobot symbol imprinted on it. The rapid-fire launcher is awesome.
There are 10 missiles for it, and the launcher can be detached from the
base and placed in Prime's hand. The compressed air rocket is a great range
weapon. There are two rockets. Just hit the
bellows and you send them flying across the room. These are all awesome
weapons.
Overall: This is the best Optimus Prime ever. Great looking in both modes, very big, and a worthy commander.
On a scale of one to ten this toy gets a 10.
