Cassette deck mode: Very nice. Very realistic, except for the size, but it does say "micro cassette recorder," so the small size makes some sense. He has a belt clip on the back, which is pretty cool, and underneath that you can conceal his weapons as batteries. The battery effect makes for a very total disguise, and is really neat.
Cassette mode: As a cassette, Buzzsaw is a cassette. Not much else to say. Just be careful you don't use him in your answering machine.
Transformation: Not very complex for Soundwave, but satisfying and well done. Legs fold down, arms fold out, head folds up, pop out the guns, load the missile, extend the missile launcher barrel, place the guns, done. Buzzsaw is also simple, but good. Feet down, wings out, head out, guns on.
Robot mode: Nice. Very mechanical looking. Good poseability for a classic. Cassette door still opens in this mode. Pretty close to the cartoon, too.
Condor Mode: Very nice. The wing and neck joints provide for some nice poses, and he looks very good.
Weapons: A "missile launcher," a shoulder mounted gun, two mortart cannons. Firstly, the missile launcher actually doesn't work. It's really his rifle on the show and comic. The shoulder cannon looks nice and both complete Soundwave's look. Buzzsaw's weapons are almost necessary to his condor mode. They have his engines and add a lot to the looks.
Overall: Soundwave is a classic. No true Transfan should be without him. Good toy all around. With Buzzsaw, it's even greater.
On a scale of one to ten, this toy gets an 8.
