The judges say: 32-13 victory for Hexy Jr.
The fans say: 37-8 victory for Hexy Jr.
Scott: Aggression was kind of lacking for both robots here. A lot of meandering going on. Sallad got one good shove in, while Hexy Jr. gave Sallad several flips. More frequent attacks give Hexy Jr. the edge.
No detectable damage occurred to Hexy Jr. Well, there was that short time when it didn't move, but that didn't seem to hurt it too much overall. Likewise, smoke kept coming out of Sallad, but that didn't seem to hurt it too much, either. Well, at least until the end, when it lost power to one of its sides. Since Sallad lost half its drivetrain and Hexy Jr. lost nothing, Hexy Jr. gets all the points.
The best I can make of strategy was that both robots were trying to attack their opponent's side. Even when inverted, Sallad's strategy was to attack the side. Well, I think. Actually, I'm not sure. I might just be making something up since neither robot did that well in flawlessly carrying out its strategy. And not that I don't understand, since it couldn't seem to get a hold of its opponent from any side, but Sallad looked like it didn't know what it should do once inverted. Lift the arm or not? Attack? Hexy Jr. gets a nice 4-1 advantage.
You know, it's a lot easier to simply say "Hexy Jr. won the fight" (which it clearly did) than to objectively determine what numeric quantity Hexy Jr. won the fight by.
Shin: And so another veteran falls to the big...veteran...plague-thingy. Sallad wasn't Sallad in this fight. Just like how Toro wasn't Toro in his first fight. Or how Minion wasn't Minion. And how Vlad wasn't Vlad (even if it's not REALLY the real Vlad...).
Agression, being the only...closest thing to being a debatable topic for me, didn't give me even that much trouble. Hexy Jr. made more solid, worthwhile hits. Sallad was in there, but just...didn't do much to prove to me that he had any clue of how to dominate the fight. Speaking of, it was pretty hard to determine Sallad's strategy in that fight, too. I guess...something like trying to push Hexy Jr. into the hazards? Hexy Jr.'s strategy was flip, flip, flip...and it worked.
I threw in a point for Sallad for some careless driving on Hexy Jr.'s part, driving into the hazards and all. But really, with Sallad smoking as much as he was for the duration of the battle, deciding on damage was more-or-less a no-brainer either. And so another veteran bites the dust....next?
Will: The Iffy system strikes again!
All three categories were pretty easy to decide in this fight. Hexy Jr. stayed on Sallad throughout most of the match (except when the IFI failed), with the one exception of Sallad trying to strike back late in the match that resulted in Hexy Jr. being run into the spikes. Despite losing what seemed to be two speed controllers or motors (lots of magic smoke!), Sallad fought valiantly, and he gets just one point for effort.
Damage is quite obvious. Hexy Jr. loses no points for the IFI system failure because it was "self-inflicted". Sallad suffered major internal damage throughout the fight, probably as a result of stalling his motors and the shock from being flipped so much. Therefore, Hexy Jr. gets all the points.
Sallad must have had some sort of strategy, but being in the air or smoking for a good minute or so of the match kinda makes it hard to carry out.
