(sung by Captain America)
Sung by: The Narrator
Meanwhile
Confidence renewed
Captain America
Returns to do battle
With the Red Skull
With his head held high
And his shield on his arm
He vigilantly strides
Towards ultimate destiny
And the fate that awaits him
At the hands of the Red Skull
Sung by: Captain America
I'm on my way to prove myself
I'm on my way to do my job
What will I find down this road?
What will I find? I don't know.
But I'll try try try to keep you safe!
But I'll try try try to do my job!
It's important I don't fail
I'm keepin' on the trail
And I'll try try try to do my job!
Well I'm comin' into town
And I see houses burnin' down
And it makes me mad as hell
You damn Red Skull
Come out and fight! I'm standin' for what's right
And it's time that you were taken down to size!
Hear me people of this town! Red Skull once beat me down!
But here I stand to face him once again!
And this time I'm going to do my job!
I said, this time I'm going to do my job!
It's important I don't fail
I was once weak and frail
But now I'm strong
And I'm here to do my job!
This song was written on March 30, 2007. This song is the second in a string of songs that go into each other. This one started out
as I was imagining Captain America walking down a road alone, thinking about his upcoming trial of spirit. I jokingly imagined him whistling
with a stick with bag at the end over his shoulder. So I wanted to take the ending emotion from the song with the boy (track #12)
and start this song with that emotion. So Cap is travelin' on, singin' his little song, when suddenly he sees the destruction the Red Skull
has caused, infuriating him. This song is part of the multi-song demo consisting of this song and the two others
(tracks #13-15), recorded on the March 30, 2007.
