Chosen for his ability to project both vulnerability and strength and critically praised for his natural streetwise style, Furlong more than held his own alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and Joe Morton. He landed the starring role in his next feature, PET SEMATARY II (1992), a youth-oriented horror flick inspired by a Stephen King concept. Furlong received positive notices for his portrayal of the estranged son of Jeff Bridges in AMERICAN HEART (1993) and made a cameo appearance in another Schwarzenegger epic, THE LAST ACTION HERO (1993).
