June 12, 1998: Paramount Digital Entertainment have released the 2nd version of their Continuum site. Functions are still only available to Windoze95-8/NT users like
hearing the RealAudio Personal Briefing recorded by Aron 'Nog' Eisenberg when one first visits the site.
Also they have started supplying an AVI video versions of the episode promos as they did when they were
MSN only, which I can not understand as the QuickTime ones are more than enough! In other words I still
don't trust their motives, since they always seems to have a hidden agenda!
NOTE: I have supplied a RealAudio file of all the Personal Briefings for those of you who will
miss hearing them, here!
April 12, 1998: Viacom has unofficially gone off the Warpath. Check out Mike Brown's Viacom page for details!
January 2, 1998: Paramount Digital Entertainment has again increased the content on the Paramount sites: 'www.StarTrek.com' and 'www.ETOnline.com' for non-Windoze95 browsers and are no longer using the MSN domain names which hopefully means Paramount/Viacom are taking notice for a change and the end of MSN would be a good thing. The sites are fully supporting Netscape's browser, but are very frame and graphics intensive. They are still only offering minor portions of the site and the special plugins to Windoze users, which should hopefully change.
December 19, 1997: Recently Paramount Digital Entertainment has brought the official Star Trek site closer to the internet but seems to still be controlled by Microsoft's contribution of the server technology, etc which the Continumm uses. For example when one goes to the URL 'startrek.msn.com' and are not using the Windoze95 version of 'Internet Explorer' they are blocked with the usual limited 'teaser' page. I have tried to reconfigure the unix version of 'Internet Explorer' so the site thinks it is the other version but found even if successful it is a waste of time since the real version uses a scripting language to download important special Windoze plug-ins needed to navigate the site.
So it comes down to one thing, as long as Paramount uses Microsoft's crappy software and technology the rest of the non-microsoft trekkers will be left out in the cold!
Anti-Viacom Sites: You should visit Mr. Video Productions & Viacom's Warpath page, Tholian Web Site, www.stfcweb.com site, ST:WWW site, Kevin's Protest Page.
Also sign the on-line petition: Anti-Viacom HQ.
Since Paramount's Official site is biased toward Micro$loth technology users I have designed this site to look better under other browsers like Netscape's! So I don't need any complaints about not using Explorer's internal frames or dynamic image tags, but if you have any fair suggestions on how I can make the site look better I am certainly open to them. Email me.
