There was her turn as the lifelong pal/love interest for Pitt and Patric in Sleepers. And her role as O'Donnell's dowdy Irish victim in Circle of Friends (a part for which the lithe Brit gained 25 pounds). You also might recall Driver from the independent gem Big Night, in which she played Stanley Tucci's cuckolded girlfriend.
But now, Driver's profile begins to increase in earnest. First comes a featured spot opposite John Cusack in April's Grosse Point Blank, a comedy about a hit man who attends his high school reunion. That will be followed by a center-stage role in The Flood, one of the summer's most anticipated movies. She plays a woman who refuses to evacuate a flood-ravaged town and ends up caught in the middle of a battle between a security guard (Christian Slater) and a would-be armored-truck robber (Morgan Freeman).
Although her résumé is littered with some of the Industry's biggest names, Driver manages to remain down-to-earth about her good fortune and bright future. "I'd like to say I fainted every time [Brad Pitt] walked in the room," she told our Ted Casablanca on the red carpet at the Evita premiere. "But it's not true. It was all very normal."
Spoken like a true leading lady.
