"Buffy, you look beat!"

"That’s what no sleep does to a person Xander." Buffy sat down on the stairs, and yawned.

"How long has it been since you’ve had a good nights sleep?" Giles asked, his nose burred a book.

"I don’t know Giles…the night Angel lost his soul." Giles looked up from his book. Xander’s mouth dropped as he stared at her.

"Well that settles it. Take tonight off, go home and get some sleep."

"As much as I’d love a night off, it wouldn’t help Giles. I won’t be able to sleep until I…until I kill Angel." Buffy tried to stifle a yawn, but to no avail. Giles walked into his office and returned with a little packet.

"Here, just take one of these and you’ll have no problems getting to sleep."

"You can’t be serious." Buffy exclaimed, in disbelief.

"Buffy, they’re just mild sedatives. I got them to help me sleep, when…when Jenny died. Don’t worry there aren’t any side effects." Buffy continued to stare at him. "You need your sleep. Buffy a tired Slayer is…"

"I know, I know…is a careless Slayer. Fine, I’ll take one when I get home."

"Honest Buffy, Sunnydale will be all right for one night."

"Okay Giles, I get the point. Look I’m taking it." Buffy popped a pill into her mouth and took a sip of water. "Happy??? By the time I get home I’ll be all ready for Nappy Time." Buffy turned to leave. "Giles, if anything does happen, come and get me, a little caffeine and I’ll be as good as new."

"Goodnight Buffy."

"Yeah, yeah…night."

Buffy pulled a stake out of her back pocket as she walked past the cemetery. "A tired Slayer, is a careless Slayer. How lame can he get." Buffy mumbled as she scanned the cemetery. She noticed a vampire that had just rose. "Well it’s nice to see vampires are as reliable as ever." She jumped over the small stone wall and entered the cemetery and walked silently until she was right behind the vampire. She reached out and tapped his shoulder. "New in town???" He turned around. "How rude of me…let me introduce myself." The vampire seemed shocked. "I’m the Slayer and…" Buffy raised her stake and drove it through the vampire’s heart. "You’re dead! Tsk Tsk, vampires just don’t seem to be living as long as they used to…must be their diet!" Buffy put the stake back into her pocket.

"And where do you think you’re going?" Buffy turned around to face yet another vampire.

"Man, you guys just don’t know when to quit do you." She settled into her fighting stance. "When are you dead guys…" Buffy delivered an upper cut to his jaw. "going to learn…" Buffy blocked the right from the vampire, and kicked him in the shins, followed up by a flying kick to the chest. "Not to…" Another kick to the chest. "Piss…" Buffy pulled out the stake. "The Slayer off??" She was just about to plunge the stake into his heart when she was grabbed from behind. "Oh goodie…just what I wanted…more brainless, soulless, losers to fight with…" Her head flew backwards and connected with the vampires face. "Well let’s get this over with I’ve got other things to do tonight." Buffy jammed her elbow into the vamps ribs and wrestled free. She turned around and sent her knee into his stomach, and pushed the stake through his chest. Buffy watched as he turned to dust, as she turned around preparing to fight the other vamp, everything started to go blurry. Quickly she shook her, trying to get her vision back. The vampire was closing in on her. Suddenly everything went black and Buffy fell to the ground.

"Oh, this is just too easy" He closed the distance between himself and the Slayer in a matter of seconds. Buffy tried to lift her arm, but it wouldn’t respond.

‘Gotta, get…up.’ But all she managed to do was let out a soft moan. ‘This is not…good…’ she thought to herself. She could now feel the vampires breath on her face, as he pushed her head to the side. ‘Gotta open…eyes’ He brushed her hair away from her neck.

"This is going to be sweet." He hissed.

‘Damn Giles and his…his…’ Buffy awaited the piercing of his fangs, but it never came. She heard the sounds of a struggle. She managed to force her eyes open a tiny bit, but she couldn’t believe what she saw. ‘I’m dead…that’s the only explanation.’ Buffy thought. Someone had pulled the vampire off of her and was now engaged in a fight with him. ‘It can’t be…’ Buffy’s eyes slid closed, as hard as she tried they wouldn’t reopen…slowly she began to slip into unconsciousness. Her mind screaming for her to wake up. She felt a cold hand grip her shoulder, and roll her onto her back.

"Buffy…Buffy." Somewhere in the depths of her mind she recognized that voice, but who did it belong to. "God Damn it…wake up." Suddenly her mind registered the voice, it belonged to Angel. But it couldn’t be Angel, because Angel wants her dead and this person just saved her. Bells and sirens began going off in her head. If it was Angel, she would soon be dead. She felt herself being lifted off the ground.

‘Maybe I’m already dead…’ she thought. ‘And I’m being lifted into…’ They were moving, walking, she tried to talk but all she could manage was another small moan .

"It’s okay, I’ve got you…you’re going to be okay." Those were the last words she heard, her head fell against the body that was carrying her and she finally passed out.
