I found this one in an old binder of mine. I wrote it clear back in Junior High. It's a little bit corny, But I still like it.

Cats

There are many cats in the world,
Many kinds of species.
Some that live in the grassland
And some that live in the trees.

They hunt the mighty forests.
They prowl in your back yard.
They hunt with great suspicion,
Not letting down their guard.

Like the tiger who is strong and fierce
With his powerful teeth and jaws.
In a second his prey is dead
With a swipe of his terrible claws.

Or the panther with eyes orange like fire,
Catches every living creature's fear.
Makes all the animals quiver and quake
When his silent shadow slinks near.
The cougar's name spells fear,
In the hears of all.
He gives and takes what he wants,
From creatures great and small.

The lynx has to be smart to survive.
He uses skill and technique
He is light on his feet.
He must do what he can to stay alive.

The leopard cat is a smart cat.
Crafty and sneaky and sly.
He jumps through the trees
With the greatest of ease,
Nothing escapes his wary eye.

The lion is the most majestic,
The kind of beasts is he.
When he goes to attack,
All the creatures stand back
To make room for his majesty.

But my cat is the best cat.
She melts into the night.
Smart as leopard and lynx,
That's what she thinks
As she catches a bird in flight.

Out comes the moon-- she awakens,
Goes stalking her prey in the night.
Out ‘till the dawn awakens.
She'll come back when the time is right. 1
