Titanic's Oscars

OscarFor it is really a great movie, Titanic was appreciated not only by the spectators but also by the reknowned masters of film-making. In 1998 Titanic received 11 Academy Awards (Oscars) out of 14 nominations. On March,23, 1998 -- the day of giving the Awards -- it was really the day of Titanic. There was only once a movie -- Ben Hur in the fifties -- that recieved as many Academy Awards as Titanic did.

Though Titanic was nominated in 14 categories, it only received 11 awards. Kate Winslet was nominated as the Best Actress in a Leading Role. The award was given to Helen Hunt for As Good as It Gets. Gloria Stuart was nominated as the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Award, which was given to Kim Basinger for L.A. Confidential. Also Titanic didn't receive an award for the Best Makeup (Tina Earnshaw, Greg Cannom and Simon Thompson were nominated), Men in Black received it. Regrettably, male actors from Titanic weren't even nominated.
