Kevin Spacey - (Lester Burnham, American Beauty)
In case you didn't notice from my nominations and winners of the Third Annual "Mikey" Awards, I really loved the movie American Beauty. And the main reason why I loved this movie was not a great story (although it had that), or the great writing (although it had that too), or even the great characters (which, of course, it also had). No, it was the great acting that really made this movie wonderful... and the leader of this great acting was Kevin Spacey as the lead character, Lester Burnham.
Lester is one of those truely great characters who would not have been so great without the brilliant portrayal by the actor in the role. How good would Rhett Butlar's character have been in Gone With the Wind if it had been Buddy Hackett in that role instead of Clark Gable. Well, Kevind Spacey put in a performance of such magnificence that no one should ever be able to mention his name, this movie or the characters name without thinking of the other two. As good as everyone else was in American Beauty, Kevin Spacey made this movie.
