ROAD STORIES
From Chris Counelis
I have an hillarious set of photos from the "Great Fire Of Carlsbad 1989". That was during the model rocket craze that went through the band. I was the "launch photographer". We went out into the field across from our hotel to launch rockets and a malfunction started a brush fire that went crazy and burned acres of field down. Remember that one?
From Glenn Thomas
I'm a bass player from N.J. who in the 1960's had the pleasure of being in a rehearsal band under the direction of Dean Kincade (ring a bell). It started out as fun and all the guys were members of 802 NY or 248 Patterson. Eventually we almost got the opportunity to reopen the Meadowbrook, but the money guys ran out of money. I'll never forget the arrangements and great music sure wish we had recorded some. Our last rehearsal was in one of the old (actually condemed) movie theaters in Patterson. We wanted to hear what the band really sounded like on stage instead of the back room of Tommy's Canary Inn. I have never heard anything as close to the real deal as that band. Only had about twenty hard core musicians that had heard about the rehersal and came to listen; big mistake on their part: some just wanted to give up music after that and some just wept like babies. I don't know to this day how Dean got through the emotions.
