When they get inside they are handed promotional Stab Souvineers, which is a Ghostface costume and a glow in the dark knife. Maureen is not amused. They work their way through a crowd of mad screaming college students in costumes and find their seats just as the movie starts. Maureen is obviously not having a good time and excuses herself to go get some snacks. At the snack bar she hears two girls saying that the movie was based on a true story, and this freaks her out even more.
As she walks back inside she is attacked by someone wearing a Ghostface mask, but luckily it's only Phil. Phil runs to the bathroom as Maureen goes back in the theatre.
But when Phil goes to the bathroom an enters the stall, he hears some weirdo talking to himself in the stall next to him. Phil thinks it's funny and puts his ear to the stall to hear more when - BAM - A large hunting knife is jammed into his skull! Ouch. We then see Ghostface come out of the other stall, and sort of loom over Phil's body.
When "Phil" returns, still wearing the mask, she notices blood on his jacket, at which time he pulls out a real hunting knife. Maureen has about 2 seconds to figure out that this is not Phil, when the knife comes down. She is stabbed repeatedly, and the audience thinks it's just an act.
Poor Maureen and Phil. So innocent. their only crime was having the wrong names.
