One Step Too Far
Almost one year ago, a local housewife, Maureen Prescott, was raped and murdered in her home while her husband was away. Her daughter, Sidney, witnessed a man leaving the house and identified him as the killer. His name is Cotton Weary, and he claims that Maureen had seduced him, they'd had sex, then he left. The jury didn't believe him, and he was convicted and sent to prison.
One person did believe him, though. A money hungry reporter named, Gale Weathers. She visited him constantly in prison and interviewed him several times. She became convinced that there was some other story there. And since this was the hottest court case of the year, she decided to write a book about it. In her reports, she called Sidney a liar several times and said that Maureen had many affairs. Needless to say, Sidney is not a fan of Gale's.
Now, almost one year later, there are some new murders in Woodsboro. Two students in Sidney's class have been murdered and the police have no leads. They're interigating the whole school. And of course, Gale Weathers is in town snooping around. She seems to think that these murders are related to Maureen's, but she'll say anything to get headlines.
To make things worse, Sidney's father is out of town on buisness and she's home alone all weekend. With the reporters and the murders, all Sidney can think of is her mother. But Sidney is going to have to forget about her mother and worry about herself, because she seems to be one of the killer's targets.
Will Sidney and her friends be able to survive? Or will they end up starring in their own real life horror movie? There only chance id to find out who the killer is.
