Travelers on a trans-European train are stopped for the night due to bad
weather and are hosted by a local hotel.
There Iris Henderson meets an old woman, Miss Froy.
As the journey begins again, Miss Froy disappears. Everyone Iris asks about
the lady seems to have never known her. They treat Iris like a mad girl.
The musician, Gilbert, trusts her and they start searching for the old woman
on the train.
In one of the compartments they find a person who is ill and covered with
bandages. She is Miss Froy who is a spy and has been captured.
When the train stops again the police are going to arrest the old lady but
she escapes and gives Iris and Gilbert a secret message, encripted with a song's
refrain.
As they arrive in London Iris and her friend reach the Intelligence Service to
deliver the message. They find Miss Froy waiting for them and she is singing
the message-song's refrain.

One of the funniest Hitchcock's movies, based on a great play full of humor
and gags.
