Marnie Edgar is an ice-cold thief; she is hired by her employers and
after gained their trust, she robs them and runs away changing her
identity.
Now she works in Mark Rutland's publishing company; Mark knows
the owner af the last company robbed by Marnie and he recognizes the
girl. He decides to watch her.
Marnie doesn't change her habits, takes the money and runs away.
Mark follows her and after catched, he decides to give Marnie a chance:
she can marry him or get arrested.
They get married, but Mark soon finds out Marnie has a psychological
illness: she is frigid and tormented by nightmares.
Mark investigates in Marnie's past to find out the possible cause of his
wife's troubles; he drives her to Baltimora to meet her mother. The lady
is an alchoolist and she was a prostitute. During her childhood, Marnie
killed a drunk sailor who was biting her mother.
Now the girl can overcome her illness and start a happy life with her
husband.

The movie is a good psychoanalitical thriller along the lines of
Spellbound; the plot shows how much a childhood bad episode
can shock a man's personality.
Once again criminality is associated with sex.
