Before hitting the Hollywood "Big Time," and after failing to flatter the Hollywood scene during his first LA stint, Dean honned his skills as an actor in New York. While briefly (and temporarily) studying at the famed New York Actor's Studio, Dean perfected the difficult art of method acting on both the new medium of television and the prestigous stages of an unforgiving Broadway.
If quantity is a sign of success, then judging by the number of non-film performances Dean participated in is an indication of tremendous success for a young actor. In a period of only four years, Dean performed in over 30 television programs and 5 plays and readings, numbers exclusive of his work in film.
