James Dean: Live Fast Die Young to be Released on Video and DVD

JAMES DEAN: LIVE FAST DIE YOUNG

(A.K.A JAMES DEAN: RACE WITH DESTINY)

COMES TO HOME VIDEO & DVD THIS JULY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

LOS ANGELES, CA – James Dean: Live Fast Die Young will be released as a rental VHS and sell-through DVD title by the indie home entertainment releasing team, it was announced today by Tanya York, President and CEO, York Entertainment and Doug Schwab, President, Maverick Entertainment.

The only biographical portrait to be sanctioned by the James Dean estate, the action film James Dean: Live Fast Die Young, stars Oscar nominated actress Diane Ladd (Rambling Rose), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers, Beverly Hills 90210), Connie Stevens (Back To The Beach), and in his final screen performance, Robert Mitchum (Tombstone, Cape Fear). James Dean was only a rising star with three films completed (East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause and Giant), but in just one fateful moment, he became a legend. A Romance Classics world premiere, the film follows the brief and tragic life of the rebel, and heartthrob.

The film will be released as rental VHS and sell-through DVD (SRP $24.98) title on July 27, 1999. Available in both English and Spanish Subtitles, the film runs 105 minutes.

Located in Los Angeles, California, CEO & President Tanya York founded York Pictures Inc. in 1990, quickly adding the successful York Home Video, in 1992. Under the new heading of York Entertainment, the independent will continue to release films to the US rental and sell-through marketplace, adding DVD to its roster this June. Already boasting an impressive roster of films, York Entertainment currently holds a library of over two hundred-twenty quality titles. In 1997 an exclusive partnership was formed with Doug Schwab (former buyer for Blockbuster Entertainment), Maverick Entertainment, to jointly acquire and release films. York Pictures has financed and produced independent feature films since 1990 and is currently in production on 6 urban action films for their 1999 slate. The company has recently opened a website at www.yorkhomevideo.com.

"Rebel" and "Giant" Listed Among Top Movies of All Time

After months of debate, the American Film Institute has decreed the "Top 100 Movies of All Time. Among such classics as "Citizen Kane" and the Godfather movies, you can find Rebel Without A Cause (listed at number 59) and Giant (listed at number 82).

Jimmy Dean only starred in three major motion pictures during his lifetime. Fans might be dismayed by the results of AFI's poll, but when you consider two out of three films that JD did made it to the list, JD fans have to be proud: it's a sign that Hollywood has taken notice to the art that James Dean lived for and worked towards during his brief and tumultuous career.

'Seinfeld' mom writes James Dean book

NEW YORK, May 6 (UPI). Liz Sheridan, the actress who plays Jerry Seinfeld's hovering, overprotective mother on the hit TV sitcom, has written a tell-all book sure to blow her fans' socks off.

NBC executives have nothing to worry about, though. She won't be disclosing the contents of the top-secret series finale, scheduled to air May 14.

Instead, she tells the story of the life she shared with teen idol James Dean from 1951 until 1955, the year he died.

Sheridan tells United Press International no other book has accurately portrayed her four-year love affair with the star of "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Giant," so she would like to set the record straight. She says she isn't sure when the untitled tome will be published.

Until then, Sheridan is keeping busy with her Seinfeld-related duties.

The following news item appeared in a Reuters Entertainment Summary 31 January 1998. As you may know, James Dean was under contract with Warner Bros, the studio that produced the three films that Dean appeared in (East of Eden, Rebel Without A Cause, and Giant), and has a long history of excellence in the cinema. Look for a feature focusing on Warner Bros. in the future.

Warner Bros. Celebrates 75

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Warner Bros. is launching a 75th anniversary series, programming decade by decade, starting April 3 at Mann's Chinese theater in Hollywood. The week-long series of 33 films will travel to as many as 50 cities. The plan is to show a decade's worth of films a day. From the '30s, there's "The Jazz Singer," "42nd Street," "Robin Hood," "Public Enemy." The '40s will bring classics such as "Casablanca" and "The Maltese Falcon." And so on, up to the '90s with "The Fugitive," "Unforgiven," "JFK," "GoodFellas" and "Twister."

You can never go home again
