Matrix is a sprite produced from circumstance.
Right from the moment young Enzo changed his icon to game-sprite mode, he'd chosen the path for survival ,over & above the fear of the unknown world beyond the game.
In order to win games to enter systems which he hoped would be Mainframe, Matrix pushed himself to become bigger, tougher than the weak little sprite who had lost the game many cycles ago
His personality might have seen sweeter days when he was a young sprite, but now Matrix is a figure no one would dare mess with. Hot-headed & stubborn, only his patient & sweet AndrAIa can handle him when he whips out that gun of his to delete some virus or cute-looking user with the misfortune to cross his path.
Driven by hate & misgivings for the one who was responsible for his present state, Matrix lives each second for the chance to give Megabyte a slow & painful delete.
Yet he is not without conscience. Many a time ( in Number 7) he questions himself of the path he had chosen, the deeds he had done,his integrity he has compromised, & deep down he fears his hero ( Bob) would shun him now that he had become such a character.

Left alone to fend for the safety of AndrAIa, Frisket & himself, Matrix has encounted but few heart-warming moments of kindness extended to him. Thus the mean streak present in many is strengthened in him. Though Matrix may seem mean and unreasonable at times, he usually comes through with the sitution and make you love him even more. ( OK OK ,I confess at this point that I am smitten by this guy... ^_^)

Soon after he meets up with a blast form his past---Gavin, a.k.a. Captain Capacitor, he gets a dose of just that. Kindness, the almost-forgotten element in life is tasted and he doesn't know how to deal with it when he recognises it. Just get the proof of that from his uncomfortable smiles !!!

Personally, I find that he is very endearing when he is in these "vulnerable" situations.

After Bob is found & Matrix has come to terms with what he has become,

CHECK OUT his really sweet,truly happy smile !!!

For the first time, No one has to " run very, very fast" when Matrix smiles . . .

Finally,Matrix has to face the task that has haunted and tormented him for so many hours(which is NOT a short time)... the SHOWDOWN with Megabyte . . . .
