Part 20
"Here we are, the honeymoon suite." The bellboy opened the door and Tom
and Cassy entered the room.
"Oh wow." Cassy exclaimed as she took it all in. The suite was
breathtaking. The ceilings were high and the furniture was turn of the
century.
Tom shoved money into the bellboy's hand. "Thank you so much Marco.."
"But sir, I haven't shown you all the aspects of the room yet. Let me show
you..."
"Marco, did you see that beautiful women I came with?"
Marco smiled. "Yes, I did."
"Marco, this is our honeymoon. The only aspect of this room that I am
interested in came with me. Do you understand?"
"Perfectly." Marco stuck the money in his pocket. "If you need anything,
champagne, strawberries, don't hesitate to call the front desk. We have a
wonderful honeymoon package."
"I won't." Tom walked Marco to the front door. "Thanks for everything."
"Thank you sir and enjoy your stay at..."
The door closed and Tom turned around. "Cass?"
"Out here."
He followed the sound of her voice out to the enormous balcony.
He came up behind her. "What are you doing out here?"
"Soaking in the atmosphere. I can't wait to see and do everything here."
"Later." He picked her up and carried her back inside. "Right now your
options are limited." He placed her on the bed.
Cassy laughed at him. "Tom, we have all night, what's the rush?"
"You have to make up to me for last night." He removed
his jacket and tossed it on the chair.
"Last night?"
He removed her shoes. "Yes, last night. When you shamelessly kicked me out
of our home and sent me to spend the night with my parents. You owe me."
Cassy tried to scoot away when he reached for the zipper on her dress but
failed. She started to giggle. "I thought you wanted to see what I bought
for tonight."
"Show me later." Tom removed the dress.
Cassy decided to get in on the fun and reached for his shirt. "You know,
Ryan, you take all the fun out of wedding night."
The smell of food entered his brain and caused his stomach to grumble. He
opened his eyes and saw that the bed was empty.
"Honey?"
Cassy entered from the bathroom fully dressed. "Good morning. Did you sleep
well?"
He grinned. "I slept well for what little sleep I did get."
She smiled. "Oh you. Come on, I ordered breakfast. Seeing how we missed
dinner last night, hint hint, you must be starved."
His stomach gave his answer. "At least come here and give me a good morning
kiss."
She leaned over the bed and pecked him when he grabbed her onto the bed.
"Breakfast can wait. I can't." He began to unbutton her shirt. He stopped
and looked at her. "Why are you dressed?"
Cassy pulled her self off the bed and stood up. "Because I have plans for
the day."
He reached for her. "Me too but it doesn't require you to be fully dressed.
Actually it requires for you to be fully undressed."
She stepped out of his reach and he sat back with a sulk on his face.
"Don't look at me like that. Last night we did what you wanted to do. Today
it's my turn."
"Geez, Cass. You made it sound like you were doing me a favor last night."
Cassy laughed at him. "You are so cute when you're over sensitive. Last
night was wonderful, however a little bit more romance would have been nice
but we'll save that for tonight. Today, dear, you are taking me out."
Tom thought about this for a second. "Isn't there a law that says the
first 24 hours of one's honeymoon should be spent in bed?"
"Nope." Cassy picked her hairbrush and began to brush her hair.
"I've never heard of that law."
"I'm sure it exists and as officers sworn to uphold the law, we must set
good examples." He patted the bed beside him.
"I'll tell you what, you can spend the next twenty-four hours in bed
while I go shopping. And if a handsome Italian stranger comes up to me and
says 'Why is a beautiful woman like you crying all alone?' I'll say 'It's
because my husband would rather stay at our hotel room than come out with
me.' And he'll say 'You married an idiot. Come with me back to Rome where I
will dote on you everyday and we will make mad passionate..."
"All right, all right." Tom slipped out of the bed. "You win. I'll go, if
no other reason to keep you out of jail when Customs realizes you
don't have your passport."
Cassy kissed Tom. "Thanks. While you shower, I'm going to call and ask for
information."
Tom picked her up. "No way. We're in this together. Where I go, you go. And
right now I go to the shower."
Cassy wiggled in his arms. "I already had a shower while you were asleep."
"That was your first mistake. We're married now, we do everything
together." He closed the bathroom door behind him.
Tom dropped the bags on the ground at the cafe's patio and sat in a chair.
Cassy sat down opposite him. "How about a cold drink? You deserve one after
lugging those bags for me while I shopped."
The waiter appeared and took their drink order.
"You know, Cass, when I agreed to come shopping with you I didn't know that
it was an all day excursion."
"It hasn't taken that long." Cassy thanked the waiter and handed him some
money.
Tom took a long drink of ice tea. "We left the hotel at nine this morning.
It is now almost five."
Cassy looked at her watch. "I didn't realize it was that late. How about we
take the bags back to the hotel and see if we can get a tour the hotel?
Since the only part of the historical hotel we've seen so far was that of
our room."
Tom leered at her. "We haven't see the private outdoor hot tub, yet."
Cassy smiled at her husband's come-hither stare. "I was kind of hoping to
see more of the hotel than the honeymoon suite. I hear they have a world
class restaurant."
Tom sat up. "Dinner sounds good. Especially good when you consider lunch
was from a hot dog vendor."
"Sorry about that. I guess I got a little carried away."
"Just a tad."
"I'll tell you what. We'll go back to the hotel, have a romantic dinner and
watch the sunset...from the hot tub. How does that sound?"
"You read my mind." He leaned over and kissed her. He stood up.
"If you'll give me just a second, I'll be ready to go."
"No problem."
She watched Tom enter the cafe and peeked into the red bag. Tom was too
busy playing with the toys at the electronic gadget shop to notice that
Cassy had left his side and entered another shop.
She removed the item from the bag and examined it. It was totally wrong for
her, something she vowed never to wear but she couldn't resist it.
Her fingers lost their grip and she dropped it. She tried to bend down and
pick it up as quickly as possible before anyone else saw it but with her
enlarged stomach, it wasn't possible.
By the time she was able to retrieve it, it was gone.
"Is this yours?" A deep voice asked.
Cassy sat up and came face to face with her red teddy. "Oh." She could feel
her face turning eight shades of red. "Thanks." She snatched it and shoved
it back in her bag without making eye contact with the man.
"Now that I've seen your intimates, that should place us on first name
basis." He extended his hand. "I'm Rick."
Cassy extended hers. "Cassy."
Rick smiled. "So Cassy, do you normally throw lingerie on the ground in
public places? I'm sure it's great for businesses."
In spite of being mortified, Cassy giggled. "No, it's a little something
for my husband."
Rick looked around and then back at Cassy. "If my wife was dropping her
undies in public, I'd certainly be on hand."
Cassy laughed so hard that the couple at the next table turned to see what
the commotion was all about.
Rick stood up. "Well, it was a pleasure meeting you Cassy and your
underwear." He kissed her hand and disappeared around the corner.
"Who was that?"
Cassy hadn't heard Tom return. She could see the look of concern in his
eyes. "Just some guy who helped me pick up a bag I dropped."
Seemed harmless enough, Tom thought. "Ready to go?"
"You bet."
Rick stood from a distance as he watched Tom and Cassy leave the cafe hand
in hand. He returned to the phone. "No, from what I can tell, they are here
on personal business...honeymoon I'd say if your info from the
Courthouse is correct...I got a look at her purchases today and trust
me, it's not business." He chuckled at the memory. "I overheard them
talking earlier about visiting Chinatown tomorrow and Alcatraz the next
day...Yes, I plan to keep an eye on them as planned...Talk to you later."
Rick hung up the phone and headed towards his hotel.
