The Best Of 1990 - 2000
Even Better Than The Real Thing (3:39)
Originally released in Achtung Baby
    - One of their biggest hits in the 90's for sure, and an excellent way to open up this album.  I don't have too much to say that I haven't said before, in my huge Achtung Baby commentary, but I should mention that out of all the songs here, this would be my choice to open the album.

Give me one more chance
And you'll be satisfied
Give me two more chances
You won't be denied

Well my heart is where it's always been
My head is somewhere in between
Give me one more chance
Let me be your lover tonight

(Check it out)

You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Child...

Give me one last chance
And I'm gonna make you sing
Give me half a chance
To ride on the waves that you bring

You're honey child to a swarm of bees
Gonna blow right through you like a breeze
Give me one last dance
We'll slide down the surface of things

You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Child...

We're free to fly the crimson sky
The sun won't melt our wings tonight

Oh now...here she comes

Take me higher
Take me higher
You take me higher
You take me higher

You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Even better than the real thing

Mysterious Ways (4:02)
Originally released in Achtung Baby
    - A really good song, and a fine edition to the album, but I find it's misplaced.  For starters, it's right after a song from the same album (I hate that).  But that's not it.  The songs are so differently paced that this song's true grace is somewhat obscured by the ending of the last song.  Hard to explain, but after the last song, the beginning of this song just doesn't sound right.  And there is a bit of a difference between this song and the original version, albeit just a line.  Instead of "She's the wave, she turns the tide, she sees the man inside the child", it's been adapted to the music video version which is "She's the wave, she turns the tide, and no question she knows why".  I'm really not sure why they changed it, but that's the way it is.

Johnny take a walk with your sister the moon
Let her pale light in to fill up your room
You've been living underground
Eating from a can
You've been running away
From what you don't understand...
Love

She's slippy
You're sliding down
She'll be there when you hit the ground

It's all right, it's all right, it's all right
She moves in mysterious ways
It's all right, it's all right, it's all right
She moves in mysterious ways

Johnny take a dive with your sister in the rain
Let her talk about the things you can't explain
To touch is to heal
To hurt is to steal
If you want to kiss the sky
Better learn how to kneel

(On your knees boy)

She's the wave
She turns the tide
And no question she knows why

It's all right, it's all right, it's all right
She moves in mysterious ways
It's all right, it's all right, it's all right
She moves in mysterious ways
It's all right, it's all right, it's all right
Lift my days, light up my nights

One day you will look...back
And you'll see...where
You were held...how
By this love...while
You could stand...there
You could move on this moment
Follow this feeling

It's all right, it's all right, it's all right
She moves in mysterious ways
It's all right, it's all right, it's all right
She moves in mysterious ways
It's all right, it's all right, it's all right

We move through miracle days
Spirit moves in mysterious ways
She moves with it
She moves with it
Lift my days, light up my nights

Beautiful Day (4:05)
Originally released in All That You Can't Leave Behind
    - Another noteworthy edition to the album.  I'm glad they stuck it at the front of the album as well, and didn't do the Rattle And Hum grouping that they did in the last compilation album.  It also carries the pace of the album through pretty well, and does a good lead into the next song.

The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
There's no room
No space to rent in this town

You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere

You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace

It's a beautiful day
Sky falls, you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

You're on the road
But you've got no destination
You're in the mud
In the maze of her imagination

You love this town
Even if that doesn't ring true
You've been all over
And it's been all over you

It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Teach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out

It was a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
Beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case

What you don't have you don't need it now
What you don't know you can feel it somehow
What you don't have you don't need it now
Don't need it now
Was a beautiful day

Electical Storm (William Orbit Mix) (4:37)
    - The only new song on this album, and a really good one.  The song is about two lovers fighting, but are still very much in love.  Musically, it starts slow but picks up very quickly and has a nifty sound effect kind of like a horror movie electrical noise through out.  This song is apparently the William Orbit Mix, and the original is on the B-Sides, but to be honest I like this version far more.  I think it's U2's as well, because they used it for the music video, which I will add is shot in black and white (U2's music video tradition).  The music video is where Larry was finally lassooed into participating in this video.  In fact, he's who the video revolves around as he falls in love with a mermaid.  The mermaid loves him too, but doesn't cope well to life on land.  So in the end, he has to set her free.  Good song.

The sea it swells like a sore head
And the night, it is aching
Two lovers lie with no sheets on their bed
And the day it is breaking

On rainy days we'd go swimming out
On rainy days, swimming in the sound
On rainy days we'd go swimming out

You're in my mind
All of the time
I know that's not enough
If the sky can crack
There must be some way back
For love and only love

Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Baby don't cry

Car alarm
Won't let you back to sleep
You're kept awake
Dreaming someone else's dream
Coffee is cold
But it'll get you through
Compromise
That's nothing new to you

Let's see colors that have never been seen
Let's go to places no one else has been

You're in my mind
All of the time
I know that's not enough
Well if the sky can crack
There must be some way back
To love and only love

Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Baby don't cry

It's hot as hell
Honey, in this room
Sure hope the weather will break soon
The air is heavy, heavy as a truck
Need the rain will wash away our bad luck

Well if the sky can crack
There must be some way back
To love and only love

Electrical storm
Electrical storm
Electrical storm

Baby don't cry
Baby don't cry
Oh baby don't cry
Oh baby don't cry

One (4:35)
Originally released in Achtung Baby
    - Seeing as how this was such an influential song for U2 (even what the cover design was based around), it's no surprise it's on this album.  I personally would have liked it if the song was little more spaced in the album, but maybe that would be solved if "Mysterious Ways" was moved.  As it is, this song sets up a good mood for the next two songs.

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...

One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...

Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One...life

One

Miss Sarajevo (4:30)
Originally released in The Passengers' Original Soundtrack
    - This is from U2's renegade album when they decided to experiment with music outside of the U2 label as The Passengers. The big song from their Original Soundtrack album was this song here dedicated to the people of Sarajevo, who held a beauty pagent as a way to protest the civil war.  It's a very moving piece, and Pavarotti sings a nice interlude.  The translation for what he's saying is included beside what he sings.  The music video includes footage of them playing with Pavarotti with scenes of the beauty pagent and the destruction of the city due to the battle outside.  Good song.

Is there a time for keeping your distance
A time to turn your eyes away
Is there a time for keeping your head down
For getting on with your day

Is there a time for kohl and lipstick
A time for cutting hair
Is there a time for high street shopping
To find the right dress to wear

Here she comes
Heads turn around
Here she comes
To take her crown

Is there a time to run for cover
A time for kiss and tell
Is there a time for different colours
Different names you find it hard to spell

Is there a time for first communion
A time for East 17
Is there a time to turn to Mecca
Is there time to be a beauty queen

Here she comes
Beauty plays the clown
Here she comes
Surreal in her crown

Dici che il fiume / You say that the river
Trova la via al mare / Finds the way to the sea
E come il fiume / And like the river
Giungerai a me / You shall come to me
Oltre i confini / Beyond the borders
E le terre assetate / And the thirsty lands
Dici che come fiume / You say that as a river
Come fiume... / Like a river...
L'amore giunger / Love shall come
L'amore... / Love...
E non so più pregare / And I'm not able to pray anymore
E nell'amore non so più sperare / And I cannot hope in love anymore
E quell'amore non so più aspettare / And I cannot wait for that love anymore

Is there a time for tying ribbons
A time for Christmas trees
Is there a time for laying tables
And the night is set to freeze

Stay (Faraway, So Close!) (4:58)
Originally released in Zooropa
    - The next logical song, in my opinion.  The mood flows right through these three songs, and make this an enjoyable collection.  This was a good song to include from Zooropa.  Personally, it's one of my favourite songs that they've ever done, and it's nice to see it here.

Green light, Seven Eleven
You stop in for a pack of cigarettes
You don't smoke, don't even want to
Hey now, check your change
Dressed up like a car crash
Your wheels are turning but you're upside down
You say when he hits you, you don't mind
Because when he hurts you, you feel alive
Hey babe, is that what it is

Red lights, gray morning
You stumble out of a hole in the ground
A vampire or a victim
It depends on who's around
You used to stay in to watch the adverts
You could lip synch to the talk shows

And if you look, you look through me
And when you talk, you talk at me
And when I touch you, you don't feel a thing

If I could stay...
Then the night would give you up
Stay...and the day would keep its trust
Stay...and the night would be enough

Faraway, so close
Up with the static and the radio
With satellite television
You can go anywhere
Miami, New Orleans
 London, Belfast, and Berlin

And if you listen, I can't call
And if you jump, you just might fall
And if you shout, I'll only hear you

If I could stay...
Then the night would give you up
Stay...then the day would keep its trust
Stay...with the demons you drowned
Stay...with the spirit I found
Stay...and the night would be enough

Three o'clock in the morning
It's quiet and there's no one around
Just the bang and the clatter
As an angel runs to ground

Just the bang
And the clatter
As an angel
Hits the ground

Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of (4:31)
Originally released in All That You Can't Leave Behind
    - Aaaarrg!  No!  Of all the songs released on that album, they chose THIS one??  It's anthematic, I know, but there were much better songs and much bigger hits.  Here's an idea: why not stick "Elevation" here and stick the Tomb Raider mix of "Elevation" on the B-Sides?  Or how about "Walk On"?  That one was pretty big.  I really can't think of why it's on here, unless it did far better in Europe than here in North America. Plus, the opening of this song pretty much wrecks the mood of the last two songs.  Although, I will admit, the music video is quite funny.

I'm not afraid
Of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me
That I haven't already heard

I'm just trying to find
A decent melody
A song that I can sing
In my own company

I never thought you were a fool
But darling look at you
You gotta stand up straight
Carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere baby

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And now you can't get out of it

Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I will not forsake
The colors that you bring
The nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing

I am still enchanted
By the light you brought to me
I listen through your ears
Through your eyes I can see

And you are such a fool
To worry like you do
I know it's tough
And you can never get enough
Of what you don't really need now
My, oh my

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

Oh love, look at you now
You've got yourself stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I was unconscious, half asleep
The water is warm 'til you discover how deep

I wasn't jumping, for me it was a fall
It's a long way down to nothing at all

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if our way should falter
Along the stony pass

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if your way should falter
Along this stony pass

It's just a moment
This time will pass

Gone (New Mix) (4:32)
Originally released in Pop
    - This is the first of the redone songs from Pop.  My guess is that they remixed that album's songs for this compilation to make them a little more rockish.  The only real difference between this mix and the original isn't lyrical (they're pretty much the same), but musically.  They've cut back on some of the high-pitched sound effect (which is too bad really, I liked it), and a lot of the piano was taken out.  But Bono's singing is far better in this version, unlike the original where he sounds like he misses beats.  So on the whole, I think the two versions are about equal, but in my opinion, they should have just left the original in and saved themselves the trouble.

You get to feel so guilty
You got so much for so little
Then you find that feeling
Just won't go away

You were holding on to every little thing so tightly
'Til there's nothing left for you anyway

Goodbye...
You can keep this suit of lights
I'll be up with the sun
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down

You wanted to get somewhere so badly
You kinda lose yourself along the way
You change your name, but that's okay, it's necessary
What you leave behind you don't miss anyway

Goodbye...
You can keep this suit of lights
I'll be up with the sun
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down

And I'm already gone
Felt that way all along
Closer to you every day
Didn't want it that much anyway

You're taking steps that make you feel dizzy
Then you learn to like the way it feels
You hurt yourself you hurt your lover
Then you discover
What you thought was freedom just was greed

Goodbye...
No emotional...good night
I'll be up with the sun
Are you still holding on
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down

Gone...sun...time...sun...
Gone...sun....gone...sun...
Sun...

Until The End Of The World (4:38)
Originally released in Achtung Baby
    - This is a great song, and I'm glad it's on this album.  There's a lot of expression in this song and it's also really cool that this song is spread out into this compilation.  I suppose I can mention the most recent music video by Ritchie Smythes here.  I saw it online at U2.com (good site), because the music video they had was mostly concert stuff.  This one was much better in my opinion, as it included shots of landscape in distorted colours, like they had been done over in a pastel collage. The band's faces swing through the shots, with some weird imagery thrown in for good measure(like a man covered in what appears to be blood). On the whole, it's pretty cool.

Haven't seen you in quite a while
I was down the hold just passing time
Last time we met was a low-lit room
We were as close together as a bride and groom
We ate the food, we drank the wine
Everybody having a good time
Except you
You were talking about the end of the world

I took the money
I spiked your drink
You miss too much these days if you stop to think
You lead me on with those innocent eyes
You know I love the element of surprise
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You...you were acting like it was
The end of the world

   (Love, love
Love, love
Love, love, love
Love, love
Love, love
Love, love, love)

In my dream I was drowning my sorrows
But my sorrows, they learned to swim
Surrounding me, going down on me
Spilling over the brim
Waves of regret and waves of joy
I reached out for the one I tried to destroy
You...you said you'd wait
'til the end of the world

The Hands That Built America (4:57)
Originally released in The Gangs Of New York soundtrack
    - An excellent song, the theme from the movie "The Gangs Of New York" nominated for an Oscar.  This song is very moving, and relies on a beautiful piano piece to introduce the mood of this song.  It seems to be about people working together in poverty and unlucky times to establish a way of living.  It matches the song's title and theme.  Musically, it picks up pretty well too, without losing the pace.  The music video, shot in black and white, is actually not so good.  For starters, it's just the band sitting in a circle and playing.  Secondly, the song in the video is slightly different from this one, being a little less quality.  But it's still a nice song, and a welcome addition to the album, even if it wasn't released between 90 - 00 (hehe).

Oh my love
It's a long way we've come
From the freckled hills
To the steel and glass canyons

From the stony fields
To hanging steel from skies
From digging in our pockets
For a reason not to say goodbye

These are the hands that built America
(Russian, Sioux, Dutch, Hindu)
Ah ah ah...America
(Polish, Irish, German, Italian)

Last saw your face
In a watercolored sky
As sea birds argue A long goodbye

I took your kiss
On the spray of a new lined star
You gotta live in your dreams
Don't make them so hard

And these are the hands that built America
(The Irish, the Blacks, the Chinese, the Jews)
Ah ah ah...America
(Korean, Hispanic, Muslim, Indian)

Of all of the promises
Is this one we can keep
Of all of the dreams
Is this one still out of reach

Its early fall
There's a cloud in the New York skyline
Innocence...dragged across a yellow line

These are the hands that built America
These are the hands that built America
Ah ah ah...America
Ah ah ah...America

Discothèque (New Mix) (4:40)
Originally released in Pop
    - I actually prefer this rock version to the dance version on Pop.  The cool guitar melody is still dominant, but there's no mistaking this as a rock song.  The lyrics haven't really changed, but have been rearranged significantly.  The most noticeable change is the end.  Instead of the "Boom-cha" as the original ended, this version simply has them saying "Discothèque" to the main melody into a fade.  It's a very good pickup for the mood of the album, without losing any of the flow.  Good addition, and I may also note that the songs from Pop aren't jammed together, which I hate in compilations.

You can reach
But you can't grab it
You can hold it, control it
You can't bag it

You can push
But you can't direct it
Circulate, regulate, oh no
You cannot connect it

You know you're chewing bubblegum
You know what that is
But you still want some
You just can't get enough
Of that lovie dovie stuff

You get confused
But you know it
Yeah, you hurt for it, work for it, love
You don't always show it

Let's go
Discothèque

Let's go
Let's go
Let's go
Discothèque

You want to be the one
But you know you're someone else instead
You want to be the song
Be the song that you hear in your head

It's not a trick
'Cause you can't learn it
It's the way you don't pay, that's okay
'Cause you can't earn it

You know you're chewing bubblegum
You know what that is
But you still want some
But you just can't get enough
Of that lovie dovie stuff

Let's go
Let's go
Discothèque

Go go
Go go
Discothèque

Looking for the one
But you know you're somewhere else instead
You want to be the song
Be the song that you hear in your head

(Heaven in your heart)
(Is your love strung out below)
(The sun, the moon, and the stars)

But you take what you can get
'Cause it's all that you can find
But you know there's something more
But tonight, tonight, tonight
You don't mind...

Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me (4:44)
Originally released in the Batman Forever soundtrack
    - I like this song quite a bit.  The verses may be a little repetitive to some, but the chorus as a whole is very cool, and leads with a very dramatic guitar piece.  The song seems to be about being a famous star, and how everyone seems to think of them as more than human, when in reality they are just normally fallible people.  The music video is pretty wicked, and an animated piece.  Since it's from a movie soundtrack, it naturally has footage from the movie, but the video attempts to integrate it into what's happening.  It seems Macphisto strikes again, and this time he's got Batman in his sight.  Macphisto has set a trap for Batman on a roof top with the rest of the band, and does whatever he can to kill 'The Bat'.  However, there's one thing he didn't count on: The Fly.  The Fly pops down to stop Macphisto, however the Press are more interested in shooting photographs and harrassing The Fly (with headlines like "This man is a so-called rock star" and "So righteous!")  The Fly manages to get away and stop Macphisto.  Macphisto reveals his origins then.  He is Bono, and once he was walking down the street with the rest of the band (even The Edge!  Fulfilling U2's music video tradition) reading The ScrewTape Letters by CS Lewis, when he was hit by a out of control car driven by some famous star.  Bono dies in a hospital bed, but comes to life again as Macphisto.  Then Macphisto pulls off his face revealing he is also Batman.  Batman pulls off his mask revealing he is Macphisto and so on.  Pretty confusing, but awesome.

You don't know how you took it
You just know what you got
Oh Lordy you've been stealing
From the thieves and you got caught
In the headlights
Of a stretch car
You're a star

Dressing like your sister
Living like a tart
They don't know what you're doing
Babe, it must be art
You're a headache
In a suitcase
You're a star

Oh no, don't be shy
You don't have to go blind
Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me

You don't know how you got here
You just know you want out
Believing in yourself
Almost as much as you doubt
You're a big smash
You wear it like a rash
Star

Oh no, don't be shy
It takes a crowd to cry
Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me

They want you to be Jesus
They'll go down on one knee
But they'll want their money back
If you're alive at thirty-three
And you're turning tricks
With your crucifix
You're a star

(Oh child)

Of course you're not shy
You don't have to deny love
Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me

Staring At The Sun (New Mix) (4:48)
Originally released in Pop
    - You know, I'm having a hard time telling the difference between this song and the original.  Upon inspection of the lyrics, I can see there is a word different near the beginning, and a phrase at the end as well.  But that's it.  Musically, I think it has a few less sound effects than the original, and this version is ten seconds longer.  I really don't know what the big difference is though.  And if you can't tell the difference, maybe you should just keep the original.

Summer stretching on the grass
Summer dresses pass
In the shade of a willow tree
Creeps a crawling over me

Over me and over you
Stuck together with God's glue
It's going to get stickier too
It's been a long hot summer
Let's get under cover
Don't try too hard to think
Don't think at all

I'm not the only one
Staring at the sun
Afraid of what you'll find
If you took a look inside

I'm not just deaf and dumb
Staring at the sun
Not the only one
Who's happy to go blind

There's an insect in your ear
If you scratch it won't disappear
It's going to itch and burn and sting
You want to see what the scratching brings

Waves that leave me out of reach
Breaking on your back like a beach
Will we ever live in peace
'Cause those that can't do
Often have to
And those that can't do
Often have to preach

To the ones
Staring at the sun
Afraid of what you'll find
If you took a look inside

Not just deaf and dumb
Staring at the sun
I'm not the only one
Who'd rather go blind

Intransigence is all around
Military still in town
Armour-plated suits and ties
Daddy just won't say goodbye

Referee won't blow the whistle
God is good but will He listen
I'm nearly great
But there's something missing
I left it in the duty free
But you never really belonged to me

You're not the only one
Staring at the sun
Afraid of what you'd find
If you stepped back inside

I'm sucking on my thumb
Staring at the sun
I'm not the only one
Who's happy to go blind

I'm not the only one...

Numb (New Mix) (4:21)

    - This song is also a remix from the original, but I have no idea why they changed it.  It's quite a complex change, but since it's musically the same, you don't notice it at first.  But upon a brief inspection of the lyrics, you pick up on the difference right away.  Really, I think the song's on par with the last one, in that I'm not too fond of it.  But oh well.  *Note: if you're having problems with the table, like it's not lining up, PLEASE let me know*

Don't move
Don't talk out of time
Don't think
Don't worry
Everything's just fine
Just fine

Don't grab
Don't clutch
Don't hope for too much
Don't breathe
Don't achieve
Or grieve without leave

Don't check
Just balance on the fence
Don't answer
Don't ask
Don't try and make sense

Don't whisper
Don't talk
Don't run if you can walk
Don't cheat, compete
Don't miss the one beat

Don't travel by train
Don't eat
Don't spill
Don't piss in the drain
Don't make a will

Don't fill out any form
Don't compensate
Don't cower
Don't crawl
Don't come around late
Don't hover at the gate

Don't take it on board
Don't fall on your sword
Just play another chord
If you feel you're getting bored

|
Don't breathe
Don't attack
Don't cry on this stack
Don't follow this track around
Each night

Gimme some more

Gimme some more of this drug

Gimme some more
Too much is not enough

|

I feel numb

I feel numb

I feel numb

Don't change your brand
Don't listen to the band
Don't gape
Don't ape
Don't change your shape
Have another grape

Gimme what you got

Gimme what I don't get

Gimme some more

Too much is not enough

Gimme some more
A piece of me, baby
Gimme some more
Gimme some more of that stuff
A piece of me, lie, lie

I feel numb

I feel numb

I feel numb

Don't plead
Don't bridle
Don't shackle
Don't grind
Don't curve
Don't swerve

Lie, die, swerve

Don't theorize, realize, polarize
Glance, dance, dismiss, apologize

Don't spy
Don't lie
Don't try
Imply
Detain
Explain
Start again

Don't coax
Don't cling
Don't hoax
Don't freak
Peak
Don't leak
Don't speak

Don't project
Don't connect
Protect
Don't expect

The First Time (3:44)
Originally released in Zooropa
    - Hmm, not too sure what to say.  This song wasn't a hit, but was included in a couple movie soundtracks.  I think the reason why it makes the cut is that it is an excellent way to end the album (I thought it should have ended Zooropa).  It's a nice slow song though.

I have a lover
A lover like no other
She got soul, soul, soul, sweet soul
And she teach me how to sing

Shows me colours when there's none to see
Gives me hope when I can't believe
That for the first time
I feel love

I have a brother
When I'm a brother in need
I spend my whole time running
He spends his running after me

When I feel myself going down
I just call and he comes around
But for the first time
I feel love

My father is a rich man
He wears a rich man's cloak
Gave me the keys to his kingdom coming
Gave me a cup of gold

He said I have many mansions
And there are many rooms to see
But I left by the back door
And I threw away the key
And I threw away the key
Yeah, I threw away the key
Yeah, I threw away the key

For the first time
For the first time
For the first time

I feel love
