If you don't know, the picture shown here is of Mia Hamm who plays for the United States Women's soccer team. She is probably the best female soccer player in the world. For now, my sports page is all soccer. My plan is to have other sports, with focus on Edmonton teams, especially us at high school and university levels.
Me: I play club (top level in the age group/province) soccer for a team called Internazional (logo shown below). Up until this year, I played for the MillWoods Warriors, they treated me well, and we won many provincial level medals. (That's good if you didn't know) But it's time for a change, and I think this new team will be also going places. So, wish me luck! As well, I just completed my season with my school team. I helped lead the team to a second in the city. Honestly, it was the worst display of reffing that I've ever seen. It was also my first loss that I'd cried over. You see, the final score was 2-1, and I scored the lone goal. As well I scored a disallowed goal (as did one of my teammates) and had a header blocked by a hand ball. It was a dissapointing loss to say the least.
University: I know that the University of Alberta always has good teams, but I'll have to check that out! I'll get back to you on this one!
Edmonton Professional: Well, a while back, we used to have the Edmonton Brickmen, but I don't think I ever knew more then their name. Then last year, we aquired a NPSL (National Professional Soccer League) franchise which was named the Edmonton Drillers. I really enjoy watching their games and actually went to their first playoff game this evening. Unfortunately they lost. But we'll see how they do. Hopefully their homepage will be up and running in the next year(sarcastic!). So I don't really have any links for the team. But I do have their logo!! And I'm going to get a picture of striker Carmen D'Onofrio scanned so that, well I can share the beauty.
World Cup 98 and other International Soccer Play!!
Just for Sabrina!
