Did You Know??
You are required by law (22454 CVC) to stop When a school bus is stopped
and the red lights are flashing. You MUST remain stopped until the red
lights STOP flashing. Failure to do so could result in fines of up
to $1000 and/or having your license suspended for 1 year.
Beginning January 1, 1998 school buses in the State of California are
required to activate their flashing red lights AT ALL TIMES when students
are loading or unloading regardless of weather or not the students
are crossing the street.

Did You Know??
California is the only state to require students crossing the street to be escorted by the driver? When a student needs to cross the street the driver shuts the bus down, takes the
keys, and escorts the student using a hand held stop sign. The law only requires that students grades K-8 be escorted, but many districts require that students of all grade levels be crossed.
