I took a trip with the schools day camp to the Queen Mary. The famous ocean liner is docked in Long Beach, CA Near the end of the tour the kids started to get excited as one of the counselors said the next stop would be the Grand Ballroom. When finally got there the kids wanted know, "Where are all the balls?"
A few years ago I drove a route with lots of red
light crossings. When it would rain the street would fill with water
so badly there was no way the kids could cross the street. Being
a nice guy(, and with the bosses permission), I would turn the corner so
the kids didn't need to cross. Well at this one stop there was always
a river of water rushing down the far side of the street in the gutter.
On this day the river wasn't very wide, but it was moving very fast.
The girl getting off the bus asked me to turn the corner so she didn't
have to jump across it. Well it wasn't raining right then, and it
wasn't very wide. So I told her to go ahead and cross the street.
When she got to the other side of the street she tried to jump across,
and landed right smack in the middle of the gutter. The water was
only about ankle deep, but it was coming down the hill so fast it splashed
up and soaked her head to toe. Needless to say I turned the corner
from then on. The funny thing is the girls mom is now my boss.
